I would feel bad and little worried as well, no body says I am proud of you unless they are looking for something special, Family is the only exception.

It makes me feel like I'm not as less as others think I may be. I've actually accomplished something. I first heard that when I graduated high school, finished my term in the army, and graduated college. Apparently, no one before me in our entire family tree has ever received a high school diploma, an honorable discharge, or a college degree.

It pisses me off. Does this mean that the person wasn't previously "proud of me". Was I a loser before than I did something that just turned around their opinion? Who are they to judge me anyway?

Truthfully? Most times I feel proud MYSELF, and I reply with a simple "Thank You!!". . . with my head held high, of course. I don't mind a little acknowledgement every now and then!!

It makes me feel that they appreciate what I have done or am about to do. that they have respect for me and my dreams . And they know I have what it takes to carry it through .
It's like getting a hug that is carried in your memory file for future referencing when the road gets bumpy.
