I love living in Canada.
I married a Canadian three years ago, and we decided that, given our individual circumstances, that it made more sense for me to immigrate to Canada than him to the U.S.

The cost of living in Canada in general is about 30% higher than in the U.S., and while some wages are higher, only by about 12%; thus Canadians tend to have less discretionery income than Americans. That is NOT to say the standard of living is less, because IMO it is better. Canadians have learned to make every dollar count, and are more inclined to prioritize and buy quality items that last.

Medical care in general is not on the same level as in the U.S., but it is available to everyone, regardless of income, and people don't go bankrupt and lose everything because they are injured or get ill. Also, at University Hospitals, and other major medical centers, the quality of care is at least equal to that in the states. (know this by personal experience).

Overall, I appreciate living in a country with a tenth the people on a greater land mass than the U.S.; with accompanying less crime, less pollution, fanatastically multi-cultural and with all the wonderful nature and wilderness areas.
