my sweety went out with his friends, yes drinking, and came home telling me that they went to check out a gay bar. Now I know without a doubt that he loves me very much, as I do him, but was this one of those ' I'm drunk and it seems like a good idea to me' type of things, or could it be something else. I know what I think, I was just wondering what anyone else thought.

Hi, aslong as he didnt go there to cause a scene (trouble) more so if he and his mates dislike gay people. Some straight guys and girls do this thinking its cool.
But hopefully he's not like this so I would say "yes" just one of those "im drunk and lets check out a gay bar for a laugh" sort of things. Maybe they even had a beat on to see if any of them "pulled" so to speak. If he has been honest with you i would say you have nothing to worry about.

Hopefully you would want to believe it was curiosity. Some guys do things just because they are curious. Some have hidden agendas. Hopefully its not because he is a homophobe and was scoping out possible victims. I have many straight and gay friends who go to bars to have a good time regardless of the type of bar it is. If it really concerns you that much, ask him out right why he went there. If you are not satisfied with the answer, then maybe you don't trust him as much as you thought you did.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Gay bars are notorious for playing better music and service stronger drinks for a cheaper price....at least, that's why the straights patronize the gay bars in my city.
But on a personal level, I wouldn't think much of it. It was probably one of those..."I've been drinking and this seems like a good idea/you only live once" type deals.

Yes, it was dumb. They probably had some bet going to see which of them was more likely to be mistaken for a gay man and get hit on the most.
Its all about who's the manliest remember. And at least he is less likely to go home with another woman this way, right?

Gay bars have a fun reputation. There's nothing weird about straight people going to them. They are a different type of "night out" experience i guess. Don't be concerned!

Straight people sometimes go to gay bars because they're fun. BUT if he keeps going there, beware with your man because you NEVER (and I mean NEVER) know if he's turned on secretly by other men. What ELSE will he try when he's drunk because "it seemed like a good idea at that moment."

My friends and I always go to the gay bar!!!
They are the funnest in town, lots of dancing, fun people and NO fights... unlike the standard bar scene where there's a bunch of rowdy teenagers getting into fights.
Its not a big deal at all... dont sweat the small stuff.

they probably just went in for a laugh. gay bars have a great atmosphere and means nothing but that. im straight and me and my friends went in one once to see what it was like and everyone wass friendly and we have a good laugh. As long as you know he loves you then dont worry about it.

Only one reason a straight guy goes to a gay bar - because his girlfriend wants to go there. A bunch of straight guys don't get the urge to hang out at a gay bar, even while drunk.

Carla, you could've answered the question yourself. Why under any circumstances would you check out a gay bar? However many reasons you can think of that you would check out a gay bar, they can all be applied to why your boyfriend did it.
