I wish to go to alaska some day and race them, or have a really large backyard and play with them when i come home... I also want one welsh corgi! =)

You first have to ask yourself some questions and be honest. Do you have a place to house 15 siberian huskies? Can you afford to feed them and pay vet fees for checkups, vaccinations, etc .? Do you have time to dedicate to the dogs, because they will take up all your time? Do you have land for them to run? They will need it. I had a friend who raised Siberian Huskies and he raced them. Unfortunately, he told me they do not get along well with other pets. If you have the land and they are not bothering other neighbors, I don't think there is a law limiting them, of course that could depend on where you are from. It is easy to have a dream, but making it work to the benefit of all (including the dogs) is really the hard part. Good luck with your dream. Just remember 15 siberian huskies are a 24/7 job and blessing!

Laws that restrict the number of dogs (or other pets) you can own are developed to discourage hoarding - whereby people collect animals and, with the very best intentions of course, keep them and add to their population until they cannot afford to keep them properly, thus actually harming the animals they so desperately want to care for.

If you're that interested in huskies - how about apprenticing yourself to a breeder/shower/racer. That way you'll get a good foundation on what it really takes to own/care for/manage that many dogs.

It's not impossible, that is for sure - but get training (like several years of it) first. Then you'll be better able to plan for your racing/showing kennel.

As to your corgi - will which kind the Pembroke or the Cardigan? And how about starting with that breed first - Corgi's are wonderful dogs - not too large, not too small - and so smart and lively!

Most cities have laws limiting the number of dogs/cats a person may keep on the property. The limit is usually 3-4. If you live in a rural area, there may not be limits. Check with your local animal services for the rules in your area.

There are other considerations. Huskies are very vocal, so you will need to live far away from neighbors or risk repeat noise complaints. Also, raising a pack of dogs is very different from raising a house pet, you will need to know what you are walking into. Also, consider needing 40 lbs. or more of food every week, all the poop scooping, vet bills and emergencies, and training/exercising that number of dogs.

There are people who do it, so it is possible, but you need to do your homework and be prepared!

I suggest looking into mushing. One Y!A user, loki wolfchild, is a musher, and he'd be a good place to start.

I'd start with the corgi, there's less chance of a corgi being against the law. Lots of dogs = lots of bills, so be aware. Huskies are beautiful dogs, and their variation in coloring is definitely striking. I can understand wanting a ton of dogs (I joke that I need 49 more dogs so I can have the whole United States, my dog's name is Mississippi), but make sure it'd be best for you and the dogs. Having 16 dogs would take up so much of your time that I bet they WOULD be your job.

Have you considered doing husky rescue? This way you can have a ton of dogs around, it would be your job, and you'd still be helping them! Just a thought. Good luck!

How many dogs you can own depends on how much money you have for vet care and your local laws.

If you can "AFFORD" 16 dogs - proper feeding, proper vet care etc, and the laws in your area allow it, then that's up to you.

But you'd better have one heck of a good job. That many dogs will cost a ton of $

If you want to play with tons of dogs, volunteer at a shelter or rescue. You could live that dream on a daily basis and the dogs would love having someone new to play with.

The law varies from town to town. In most cases there is a limit to the number of dogs you can have. Unless you apply for a kennel license, then you can have more. But you'll also be inspected regularly to make sure everyone is being well cared for.

I believe you might be violating zoning laws with that many dogs unless you are licensed and registered as a kennel. Call your township and find out.

If you do end up in the sled-dog world, I surely hope the Corgi will be allowed to ride on the sled and not have to pull it. LOL.

some cities have laws where you cannot own more than so many dogs. (here it is 6!)
I would not recommend owning 16 dogs first off.
second if you do end up getting these dogs then do lots of research and be willing to take care of ALL of them.

You would have to be classified as a kennel to have that many dogs. I don't know if that means getting a business lic. or what. Good Luck. Make sure you have plenty of land. I have 4 pits and I need more land than I have, here in Georgia you need to be a kennel to have more that five dogs...
