The only way to gain weight is to take in more calories than your body requires. IF you rely solly on weight traiing to gain weight, it is gonna take a lot of time.
Even if you reply on weight training, protein just aids in muscle recovery. It is the combination of protein with carbs that actually add size to them. That is why any weight training pprogram advocates that within 3 hrs of a workout you need to take a good meal that has both protein and carbs. For your other meals you can take protein and lesser carbs but the 3hrs timeframe after your workout is most important if you wanna put on muscle mass.
Try to incorporate more carbs in your diet and you will see a difference. Good Luck

Whatever u do, do not stop lifting because u lost weight. There are many reasons why u lost the weight, however i can tell u that it wasnt muscle, but fat or even water weight. I have know many people who take protein shakes and lost weight. I am one of those people. When i was 16ish i couldnt gain weight for the life of me. The best way is to take one day and write down all the carbs, protein, and fat u eat in one day (its a pain but it will be worth it). More than likely ur protein intake is pretty good. but check on ur carbs (that was my problem, i wasnt gettin nearly enough), and if they r too low then adjust ur eating patterns. U want ur protein intake to be about 1g/lb of bodyweight per day, carbs should be about 2-3g/lb of bodyweight per day. Dont worry too much about fat, just make sure ur not consuming too much saturated fat and trans fat. When u work out keep ur rep range about 8-15 reps. That is where muscle mass is gained. Pick a weight (after warming up) that allows u to fail somewhere between 8-15 reps on ur last set or two. When u eat more carbs they will load up ur muscles with muscle glycogen (stored form of glucose) and they will look more swollen and ur srength will go up as well. If ur doing ne cardio, i would suggest keeping it to a minimum or none at all for a while so u dont burn off any additional calories. Try to eat at least 5 times a day (breakfast, luch, dinner, snack). if ur hungry at any other point in the day then go ahead and eat a nice snack. dont let urself get too hungry at any point during the day, and before u go to sleep take that pm protein shake (which in sure u already do) to keep ur body from entering catabolism (breaking down phase). Dont try to eat alot more food at once because it will be too hard, just increase ur intake alittle bit and if u can eat a bit more then go ahead. Try to increase ur food intake a little bit at a time and not all at once. And dont forget, gaining muscle is not an overnight process, it takes time and hard work, and eating big to get big. Finally, the carbs u want to eat r the good carbs, not sugar loaded ones (oatmeal, healthly cereal, pasta, rice, potatoes, rice cakes r a good snack, breads, and other sources like that).
good luck

You are probably burning more calories than you take in. Up your calorie intake by 300-400 calories a day of quality foods. Keep you protein at 1-1.5 grams per 1lb of body weight. If after a week of this you still lose weight, up your calories until you start gaining. For more info go to bodybuilding.com

People usually go on Protein diets to lose fat. The reason why you last weight is because you lost fat. Once all the fat hasbeen burned off then you will start gaining muscle weight.

try to have a little lean protein with each meal as protein tends to be more satisfying than carbs or fats
