Yes, they are very sore. They are a thrombosed blood vessel protruding from your rectum. It happens when you don't get enough fiber in your diet and you have to "push" to have a bowel movement.

Go to the store and get some "Tucks" type pads and use them to clean and soothe after going to the bathroom. Or you can sit in a tub of cool water for some relief. The doctor has some steroid cream that they use sometimes, also. But your best way to keep it from happening is to drink plenty of water and eat lots of fiber. Nuts, fresh fruit, green vegetables.

It may take up to 2 weeks for them to go away unless you continue having trouble going to the bathroom. Then you will only make it worse. So when you go to the store for the "Tucks" get some fiber tablets or water soluable fiber supplement to help you out.

Good luck hon.

These things are painful, or at best very uncomfortable. One of the best treatments is soaking several times a day for 15-20 min in warm water with a concentrated epsom salts solution (called a sitz bath). The best way to do this is to get a plastic tub or storage container that is small enough to put in the bathtub, and large enough to sit in.

The other thing is to keep stools soft by taking a softener like ducolax or magnesium supplements.

What I did was I greased my anus very well and pushed them back in and then kept the area well lubercated and used preperation H or Anusol suppositeries or tucks pads
They shrink in about 3 weeks to a month.

If they bleed very much see a Dr.
And in the mean time eat more fiber and drink more fluids.
