They both have their qualities. Steel is structural whereas brick has a limited strength but is a better facing material. Large buildings these days have a steel structure the brick just acting as a decorative facade. Steel in its use requires coating to prevent rusting whereas brick is self finished

In order to answer this question accurately I will need answers to the following questions:-
1. Do you want to build a suspension bridge or a multi story car park?
2. How big is your wheelbarrow?
3. Do you have the appropriate tools, i.e Set of Spanners for steel or Trowel and Spirit Level for brick?
4. Do you have a gang of Polish immigrants standing by to do the job over the weekend, or are you just going to rely on the wife to hand you whatever you need, and spread the job over a few weeks?

It depends what you want it for, they both have there places in the house.
Steel costs more to make, have prepared, delivered and in-staled, but can carry more weight,
Brick cost less, is easily available, is moved easily, and probably cost the same to install, but cant carry as much, doesn't come in big chunks like steel, and doesn't last as long as steel.
But you can build a garden wall out of steel the same you don't build a sky scraper out of bricks.....
Good question, that made me stop and think.

Well I'd go with brick. Steel is mega expensive and will cost you an arm and a leg. Whereas brick is cheaper and more versatile. Hope this helps

Steel is more versatile and brick does not have to be finished. Even trade if you ask me.
