~A tourist visa is for that purpose only to be a tourist. You are not allowed to work on this visa.
~A student visa, you must have a college place already and prove that you can support yourself throughout the course.
~A work visa is a H visa and you need a degree or highly needed job skills. To get this visa you need to be sponsored you can NOT apply by yourself

Entering the US on EITHER a student or tourist visa means the individual has agreed to several things, including to obey US laws.

Student visas (for the most part) DO NOT allow the visa holder to seek employment or be gainfully employed while their visa is in force. Working (or even interviewing/applying for work) is enough to get the individual's visa revoked and for them to be deported.

Similarly, a tourist visa DOES NOT allow the visa holder to seek employment or be gainfully employed.

Neither visa type can be exchanged at a later date for a work visa, either. Typically, to obtain a work visa (having been here on a tourist or student one), the individual must exit the US, return to his/her home nation, and re-apply for entry there (under a work visa). Additonal restrictions on timing can be invloved (like having to be out for 2 years if you originally came on an F-1 student classification)

Neither. Go the route of applying for a work visa and paying for it rather than entering into the visa lottery. If you do 1 or 2 you may endanger yourself from getting a proper work visa. If you do 1 you'll get kicked out and deported.

My husband applied before we were married and got a good work visa. He hasn't used it since we live in his country.

If you're Irish, pardon me for saying it, you're in like Flynn. It is really easy to get a work visa if you're Irish. My husband is Welsh. He marveled at how easy it was for the Irish.

And don't listen to the "Get Out!" people on here. Americans love foreigners. Unless they're Native American, our relatives were all foreigners at one time. My husband opens his mouth and people can't get enough of his accent. You get good customer service in the States, but I swear he gets the best.

You should really consider entering on a student visa. a tourist visa is usually for a short amount of time. a student visa is renewable and be extended annually depending on your accademic work. while on your studnt visa, you are allowed to work. do not try to work illegally, you will put in a box and thrown in the ocean ... they're cracking down like crazy these days on people working without proper clearances!

Legally! Immigration is handled in the nation of origin. You should contact the U. S. Embassy in your nation for advice.
