yes...i took ten pictures with Phillips super life batteries and they died!!!
use rechargeable ones...it saves you fortunes in the end.
I bought a charger and 4 batteries from Tesco for under £10 and they are still going strong 2 years later...with additional charges i mean...lol

Short battery lifespans are common to pretty much all digital cameras, especially ones with large amounts of physical movement (e.g. telephoto lenses that whirr out after you press the power button). Rechargeable batteries hold on average 30% less power than bought ones, but these differ quite dramatically too.
When we use two or three batteries together, the moment one is dead, the others will stop working, too.
I can't wait for a better alternative to batteries. They really do suck, and they are SO expensive!

You should be using a battery that is designed for electronics, especially digital cameras. Cheap batteries will not last long on a product that requires as much power as a digital camera does.
If your camera runs on AA cells, the problem is probably that you're using alkalines. Digital cameras aren't designed to use that power source.
Look for batteries that are rechargeable nickel-metal-hydride. The higher the mAh rating, the longer they'll last--look for 1850mAh or higher.
Another option is using disposable lithium AAs. They last much longer than alkalines, but of course you can't reuse them.

Digital cameras are notorious battery eaters, some more so than others. It's the colour LCD screen that does it. You need at least two sets of 2700 mAh Ni-MH rechargeable batteries and a smart charger.

Sadly yes and if you intend to make serious use of the camera, rechargeable batteries are a must. I keep some batteries on charge to replace those in use.

First you need 2700mahAAnimh recharge ables. I use MAHA's in my Canon A710 and get 300+ pics using the lcd screen 100% and the flash 50%. Next you need to get a good camera, Samsung is the Korean word for junk.

Yep. Your batteries will be 3 volts (2x1.5 volts) but drops pretty quickly to about 1.6 volts, and digital cameras need about 2v to even power on.
Rechargable Nickle MetalHydrate batteries are only 2.4v (2 x 1.2v) but will keep this voltage untill they're nearly empty.
You will be able to use your phillips batteries for months and months in low power devices such as remote controls or clocks.
