In order to discourage directly burning digital programming to DVD, most hard drive Digital Video Recorders don't have a DVD burner built in. Also, DVD recorders don't have digital inputs. The normal way around this is to just get an external DVD recorder (about $80 - $100) and use the analog output from your cable box or satellite decoder. You will get good quality and can use the extended length option for long play time.

You can do all of this on your computer if you have the correct tuner cards, DVD burner and software, but I don't know the details.

Good Luck
