Just save it and give it to someone else. Smile.

I think I'd contact the givers and ask them where they got your gift from as you got doubles and need to return it. A little white lie won't hurt in this case. Or if you aren't comfortable doing that, have one of your parents do it. Most mom's don't mind asking people things like that. And if that's not the answer you're looking for either, start hitting the stores and looking for the item. You can have it in the trunk and when you find it run out grab it and return it. Congratulations to you both and good luck.

If by searching online for the product by description or sku number you cannot find it, have your mom or your spouse's mom call the giver to ask "where they just such a lovely present because she would love to give it as a gift to a friend she knows." You'll find out where it is from so you can return it, and they will think their gift was a hit! Problem solved!

A lot of times as long as the store sells the same exact item, they will take a return without a receipt. . . .It's not that big of a deal to the store, as they will sell the item, and get the money from the company. . . .if you don't want to do that, you could just sell it somewhere like Craig's List, but you won't get nearly full price, although it's slightly more honest than tricking a department store.

I'd say just keep the gift and give it to someone else, sell it at a garage sale, etc. I used to know one store in my area that would take any item they sold, whether or not it was originally purchased from that store. I'm not sure if there are any stores that will do that now but you can check with any stores where you registered.

This is one reason I hate being invited to weddings unless it's family or close friend. If you had a registry this probably wouldn't happen and/or if you really just wanted cash why not be honest and just ask for it. You recieved this free why not give it to someone who might like or need it.

OK, bring on the thumbs down.

Trying to figure it out or asking will offend somebody. Even other family may question it.

Best to just be gracious and keep the gift as doing otherwise it could appear that you are "cheap". Hang on to whatever it is and regift it to someone else later.

You could try searching the SKU thats on the box in google... might bring up a store. Did you register? Should be able to just search that... or bring it to some main department stores and see if they will accept the return. Hopefully they dont just give you store credit! ;)

Maybe put it up for auction on eBay?

I also saved a bunch of stuff, hoping maybe I'll like it or it'll come in handy/useful in 2, 5 ,10, 20 years.

The only thing I would think of is to walk around in a couple of stores in the area and see if you see one like it.More than likely if you do, that is probably where they got it from.
