I am always running into people I work with or am friends with and I always introduce him during the conversation. Even if its just to say "this is my friend Jim" or ask if they have ever met and introduce each other.
My boyfriend never introduces me to anyone and it makes me uncomfortable. If I see he is about to speak with someone, he has such a habit of making me stand there and look like and idiot, and not introducing us. I am reasonably intelligent and I am more than capable of carrying on a conversation.
I figure whats the harm of walking away. H e didnt want to introduce us anyways. I think after 5 yrs I should be introduced. Sometimes the person he is talking to will introduce themselves after awhile into the conversation.
Is he ashamed of me or is he just socially an idiot? I could introduce myself and have even been mistaken for his ex wife, so maybe thats better. What do you think? Is it him or me?

If you and your boyfriend are getting along fine in ever other way than it could be that he is just a social idiot. I'm only in my mid twenties and it became really obvious to me awhile ago that most people my age, or around my age, have lost their social graces. I don't really understand how it happened but I've actually had to introduce myself to that mystery third person when I run into someone I already know. A couple of options are to take that step, start introducing yourself to the people he knows and play off his poor social skills as a joke. Or you could try the direct approach and just ask him what going on. From the way you described things it doesn't sound like there is anything wrong on your end, your boyfriend just need to do a little growing up.
