What do you have to say about this? We Muslims are told everyday that we are terrorists. We're told we all want to kill you (Puh lease! You're not worth the jail time and I'm not an idiot to kill somebody for believing differently than me anyways!) Did it ever occur to you that there were Muslim victims of 9-11 too? Or did you only see the American Christians as victims who died, but ignored the American Muslims that were alongside them going through it and helping out?

"Thousands of innocent lives were lost on September 11, 2001, and our hearts and prayers go out to their families and loved ones. For several hundred of the victims of 9/11, grief and sorrow has been compounded by constant suspicion, bias, hatred, and attacks on the faith they hold dear.

Imagine being the family of Salman Hamdani. The 23-year-old New York City police cadet was a part-time ambulance driver, incoming medical student, and devout Muslim. When he disappeared on September 11, law enforcement officials came to his family, seeking him for questioning in relation to the terrorist attacks. They allegedly believed he was somehow involved. His whereabouts were undetermined for over six months, until his remains were finally identified. He was found near the North Tower, with his EMT medical bag beside him, presumably doing everything he could to help those in need. His family could finally rest, knowing that he died the hero they always knew him to be."

The truth is, I never thought of those people being Christian, or Muslims or any other Religion...I though of them as people killed for NO REASON....the loss was great...and we still mourn their loss.

Okay, well, here we go again. I'm a 15-year-old Catholic girl with a very strong faith. I wouldn't say I've "suffered" at all; I have a very nice life and I appreciate all that I have. On the other hand, I HAVE been persecuted- by almost everyone. My parents, brother, and friends are all atheists who attack my religion every day. In some ways, I think that this HAS bettered my relationship with God. (I don't believe that He has "allowed" this, but everyone DOES have free will, so He is kind enough to give that to him). I think it has strengthened it, because I've had to learn more about my faith to be able to defend it to people, and this knowledge has given me a greater understanding of Him. And incidentally, I HAVE visited a 3rd world country. This past summer I went on a mission trip with my church group to help build houses in Haiti for two months, which was purely my own decision- I actually h. I have met both Christians and non-Christians there who live in extreme poverty- I met one family who actually drank their own urine because that was the cleanest water they could find. I met a little girl who died two weeks after I met her of malaria, because she couldn't afford vaccinations or a doctor. I met a girl my age who had bloody feet because she had to work in fields full of thistles without shoes. And I cried every night over that, because even though I did everything I could to help them, it wasn't enough. For the next part of your question: God didn't chose me to be priveleged. He didn't chose anyone- He loves all His people equally. It was a random accident of birth. I believe He has a plan for all of us, though. Maybe when that little girl died, I was meant to see it- maybe now when I grow up, I'll become a missionary and save dozens of little girls like her. God will never take away the world's free will. WE are the ones who don't distribute the wealth evenly. WE alone have the power to change that. I don't talk about my suffering- I know it's nothing compared to the rest of the world's. I just do everything I can to fulfill God's will.

You are not a terrorist anymore than every white Christian is a KKK member. There are extremists in every single religion, in every country, all over the world. It bothers me that Muslims are so singled out. Indeed, you are not a terrorist and you are very right, there are more people that died that day. It's sad and a tragic thing that goes on. One of the main things that 9-11 caused other than thousands of deaths is something that will continue on for a long time - it caused a Renaissance of hatred all over this world.

The only good thing I remember about 9/11/2001 was that all Americans thought of their fellow Americans that day. We did not think in terms of Christian, Jew, Muslim, black or white. We were just thinking about our fellow human beings that had been murdered. Now it seems that unity is gone again, but not just in America...around the world. We do not think of our fellow human beings as just that. If we dropped all the labels and respected all life, the world would be a better place. But that will not happen any time soon.

But to really answer your question, I have to add this. I realize Christian Americans were not the only people killed. I realize not only Americans were killed. I'm just wondering if you realize that people who believed in allah and Muhammad, Muslims, are the ones who did the killing?

Not a Christian, so I'm not as inclined as some to assume (or merely act) as if all the victims were Christian. I expect that, out of the ~3000 victims, that there was a pretty wide range of religions represented. NYC's pretty diverse in that sense.

IMNSHO, and speaking as a rather biased retired EMT, any first responder who died in those attacks is a hero.

Did you know that Thomas Jefferson spelled "Muslim" "Musslemen"?

In the 1780's Thomas Jefferson warned congress about Muslim nations and how they wanted to destroy everyone who was not Muslim.

When Jefferson became President he was the first president to declare war against a nation for support terrorist activities. He described the actions as terrorism in a letter to one of his generals and is the first American President to describe Muslim terrorists as terrorists.

Things have not changed for hundreds of years and you expect me to feel bad because several hundred years later people are beginning to recognize that Jefferson was right?

You might not be a terrorist. Maybe you are.

My own Atheist Liberal Democrat parents supported the Weathermen and fit my definition of terrorists because they gave aid and comfort to people committing terrorist acts.

If you choose to belong to a group that has a long history of terrorism do you really think people should automatically think you are a "good guy"?

Do Muslims automatically think of me as a "good guy" even though I am an American?

Then do something to change the way Muslim's act (both regular and radical). Treat women as equals, dont go on Jihads, etc, etc. There is more to life than religion.

And to TriForce...$11.76 keeps you here? They need janitors in other countries too. Do you think that is a good job, it may be if you are 19. So there, you can make same or more money , if you are smart enough, anywhere in the world. So it you hate it here, leave. I will even pay for your ticket to Iran. (I make more than 11.76, so I can afford it). I do not need or want people like you in the country I love and have served. you make me sick!

So, one muslim guy isn't a terrorist. And?
They made a mistake about him, but at least he was muslim. What about the Sikh people who get harrassed because people think they're muslim/terrorists? Or the Hindus or anyone else who looks like they could be muslim? I've never heard of a Hindu terrorist, have you? But I'm pretty sure bin laden calls himself a muslim, so why should I bawl my eyes out for someone who was killed by his own people (who will now call the dead person a martyr) when so many others were targetted and brutally murdered?

so what are muslims doing to rein in the *bad* muslims? while it's touching that you can identify one person out of the over 2000 people who died that day...i don't think anyone cares whether the victims were Christian or not...we are mostly devastated because they were innocent victims of people who follow your religion.

before 9/11, we didn't have suspicion, bias, hatred or attacks on your faith. we lived side by side, peacefully. if only we had a little suspicion back then...we would have listened seriously to the early warnings...and maybe we wouldn't be hating on your religion as much as we do...

your religion owns the devastation of 9/11. just like the nazis own the genocide of jews, the japanese - pearl harbor, the americans - hiroshima...

embrace it and work to change that ugly, ugly image...don't sit and whine about how it's unfair. your peeps did it...and you can't deny it...

We know that we also know it was Muslims who flew the planes into the trade center and killed everyone there.

We are told the same things, I do not believe all Muslims are terrorists, I think most are just regular folks but there is a rather large group of radicals who do want to terrorize and kill, they are the ones who have caused all this.

Regardless of all factors one thing is for sure, the killing needs to stop and it needs to stop now, this means all sides of what is occurring need to stop and now.
