I'd been thinking about getting another Mini-14....I've had three in past years....But if Ruger "never intended for civilians to have high-capacity magazines or folding stocks"....
Since Bill Jr. backs up his Dad's statements,
I think I'll get an AR instead.
That's an interesting website....
Know any others I should check out?

Don't believe that Bill Ruger didn't want people to be able to buy hi-cap mags, Doc? here's the link.
Direct quotation near bottom of page.

Sorry, didn't mean to cause a ruckus, I thought most folks knew about this. I'm not calling for a boycott on American made Ruger products or anything like that, but folks need to be aware that the Ruger family like to speak for the entire gun industry and that they are prone to "negotiating" on what Americans should and should not be allowed to have.

You old timers will remember the first time you saw a firearm with a "legal disclaimer" embossed on the side that "misuse could cause serious injury or death"? Yep, it was a Ruger. Remember how ridiculous that was to you then? Well, it ain't funny no more is it.

Despite still being a little sore about all the issues I had with a P89 years back, I don't wish the Rugers anthing but good and certainly will not prohibit myself from getting their products on the grounds of principle. Heck, I was thinking about a 22/45 just because I never had one before.

When someone is such a public figure, you would think that they would be a leader as well, but it doesn't always happen. I don't need Bill Ruger or anyone else negotiating my rights with Shumer/Kennedy/Boxer/Feinstein/Clinton et al.

I]m not sure what article you are talking about. It is probably one about how Bill Ruger sold out gunowners by endorsing magazine limits. Well BULL CRAP!!!

Bill Ruger has done as much or more for shooters and the shooting sports as anyone else in the 20th Century. If he felt he had to tell a whopping fat lie to try to protect his business, his products, and the shooting public, I won't hold it against him.

We all know that if Bill Ruger didn't believe civilian shooters should have high capacity magazines, he would not have sold Mini-14's and Mini-30's on the civilian market, or he'd have made them incapable of accepting high-cap magazines. His comments were nothing more than smoke blown on the asses of the gun grabbers.

I certainly won't avoid purchasing Ruger products simply because Bill Ruger lied to save his business. Ruger products are too high in quality, and have too much value for cost not to make use of them. Besides, Mr. Ruger is dead and gone, you won't hurt him by boycotting his business.

I'd consider that Bill Ruger was quite a bit older. He saw firearms he produced for "hunting purposes", and at the time the mini was produced he felt 5 rounds was adequate he didn't forsee the market for black rifles.

I opted for a AR for the extra $$..

I remember reading a Zumbo column that was blasting the black rifles, he got inundated by black rifle shooters, he has since bought one as a tack driver.

James J
even though i don't agree with Mr ruger reading that article i feel his heart was in the right place he was trying to save the guns from being banned. if he hadn't written that bill would they have banned all the assault type weapons?

I don't know but am sure i will get several thumbs down from this comment
