I want to know if there was or is any Cherokee tribes around the Kentucky/Tennessee area. Like the Cumberland lake area.(wolf creek dam).

I don't think the Cherokee actually LIVED in Kentucky. I believe it was actually a hunting area that was used and disputed by several different tribes, especially the Cherokee, Shawnee, and Tuscarora.

As for Tennessee, I'm not sure how far west the Cherokee ranged, but there was a large area of Eastern Tennessee that was part of the Cherokee Nation.

I just drove threw Kentucky and Tennessee and recall that there were signs on I-75 saying it was Cherokee Area, so there have to be there somewhere. Also I saw vehicles with native emblem stickers on them.

That's where they came from also North Carolina but you should know that most of them wound up in Oklahoma after the were force marched there on the "Trail of Tears"

Hi. Yes, there were tribes in Ky. I am a descendant. My mom and my dad's families were both Native -American Indian and African- American/Irish/Scottish. I know, it sounds like a HOTT MESS, but I turned out o.k. Have a wonderful day and God bless you.

THE CHEROKEES WERE LOCATED(PRIOR TO THEIR REMOVAL TO OKLAHOMA) FROM GEORGIA TO KENTUCKY, INCLUDING THE CAROLINAS AND TENNESSEE.
