Umm, dude, you do realize that they are having his first title defense in December so they can hype it up with the next season of TUF, right?
The powers that be in the UFC decided that a Matt Hughes/Matt Serra fight wasn't going to be a big enough fight to draw anyone, and since at the time there wasn't a clear cut number 1 contender other than Matt Hughes, they decided to put Hughes and Serra on TUF as coaches to build up the fight.

Lol, scared of who? Get a clue about the business first. Its the UFC not Matt Serra who decides when he fights. A champion has up to a year to defend his title. He'll be fighting Hughes in December which is under a year. As far as Hughes eating him up. You may or may not be right. I hope your wrong because your boy Hughes wins then he'll retire before he has to defend the title against GSP. He'll use the lame excuse that he beat the guy that beat GSP so he doesn't need to prove anything. Remember Hughes was already talking about retiring before he lost the title to GSP.

Alright, you are right that Matt Hughes will dominate him, but dont think he has a choice to defend it or not. I'm pretty sure it goes through the comisioner and then they set up a fight. I dont think he has a choice. He just needs a challenger.

under ufc contracts fighters will defend their title within a year. to hype up the upcoming season of TUF they had matt hughes and matt serra as coaches. its no secret that serra dislikes hughes. I don't think serra is scared of hughes, if anything he wants to knock him out for sure, if not, a submission is just as good. you can't deny hughes' strength, but against a jujitsu guy of serra's caliber, strength is not enough. i don't like hughes' cocky jock attitude either, but serra's constant complaining about it is getting old. i hope they knock each other out, lol, j/k

He is fighting Matt Hughes after this season of TUF. And he would have fought already but had an injury so they decided to have him coach TUF against Matt Hughes and fight after the season.

Matt Hughes is a dus*, and I'll be happy when Matt Serra makes Hughes cry (like he just got spanked).

He's not fighting because he was busy coaching his team on TUF6... Duh.
Hughes is gonna eat him up like a country breakfast huh? (had to throw that in) Well.. Watch Hughes fight any BJJ guy, other than Royce. He didn't exactly eat up Charuto or BJ now did he?
