If your going to use plaster board to line the walls to your bathroom, you will need to use what is known as foiled backed plasterboard. Foiled backed plaster board can either be nailed to battens or stuck to a brick or block wall previously plastered or not by using an adhesive. Although the adhesive sticks like sh!t. you Will need to apply mechanical fixings (approx 9 per board 3 at top 3 in middle and 3 at bottom) this is for fire protection (heat may affect the adhesive and the board might topple). Obviously if your nailing to battens you will need to nail at about 250mm intervals on to the battens.

Insulate exterior walls with gyprock thermal plasterboard or similar not less than 25mm thick. Foiled backed plaster board will also help insulate.

Good Luck Red

You need to paint the plasterboard with PVA to seal it. But It could still warp and if it's tiled on then water could get behind and give you big problems. If I was you I'd buy Aquaboard/panel which is meant for the job and will save you time in the long run. It is more expensive but if you want a good job then it's worth it. Hope this helps.

Bathrooms walls are generally dry, so it would be OK to use normal plasterboard.
Not necessary to back with DPM.
In shower enclosure plasterboard is not successful, either coat this area with thin bitumen paint, or use special cement-based board for this area
