Here's the truth straight from the Living Word of our Creator & the Creator of the universe

"Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist. And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence" (Colossians 1:12-18).

And for this reason we also constantly thank God that when you received from us the word of God's message, you accepted it not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the word of God, which also performs its work in you who believe.
-1 Thessalonians 2:13

"For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:23).

"Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account." Hebrews 4:13 (NIV)

"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." 1 John 1:8

Generally it is a realization that faith requires a lot of "hand waving" at many beliefs for example the marked difference of god between the old and new testaments or the need for blood sacrifice. Then there is the realization that while the bible, or any other holy book, declares itself to be true, there is little evidence of that being the case and much against it i.e. the temple curtain was destroyed in 70 CE along with the temple itself - no mention is made of it being replaced earlier.

I think many times people make "decisions" about faith based on emotions and not mature reasoning--and if it's *only* emotional, it's not going to last very long.

Most people get to a point in their lives when they question what they've been taught about almost everything--faith is no exception. Many times they will explore on their own and eventually come back to something very similar to what they were raised in, but not always.

It's not demons--it's just people using their own free will to decide what THEY believe--not what was handed to them from someone else. Someone who does this will usually end up with a stronger faith, in the end--even if it's not exactly like everyone else's.

Some people lose faith because they put God in a box. When their prayers are not answered the way they want or think it should be, they blame God for letting them down.
It could also be demonic destractions keeping someone from following Christ. There are many reasons

I think a lot of the time people fall from faith when something happens and there is no explanation for it. Things like an unexpected tragedy, death, bad luck in life. People tend to lose faith when they are going through a big struggle, and it is so easy to place blame on God and lose faith when something happens we do not understand.

Literacy.... The ability to read what is written, the ability to question, the ability to learn.... The intelligence to know the difference between Reality and stories told to keep people from revolting against those in power.
The bible was created to teach basic community guidelines. The New Testament was established to create a new religious order for the purpose of making those who created it more powerful...

I am backslidden and I can tell you it was because of me. I stopped reading and praying like I knew I should. Eph. 6 tells us to put on the Armour of God. Well I stopped doing that and because of that I went back into the world. The devil didnt make me stop doing those things. Although I would love to blame him.

Me,
There are as many reasons as there are people. Satan constantly attacks where a Christian is weakest and there are people who are not strong in the Faith. Paul said they were needing milk and not meat. As a Christian it is our job to teach and encourage such people so that they are able to fight off such constant attacks of Satan. We are able to do so only by Faith and constant Study of HIS HOLY WORD. Have a nice week.
Thanks,
Eds

PS... It is NOT "their own doings".

Depends what your definition of "faith" is. You sound like a friggin Jedi with your dark side and demon spirits. How about a healthy dose of reality?
