i became a christian when i was a teenager. and since then I've been married and had a wonderful family. My firstborn son died due to cancer 5 years ago when he was 12, and last year my wife went into labor with twins I went in with a wife pregnant with a boy and girl, i came out with my daughter (my son Noah and my wife went to join my son Adam in heaven). yet I still praise the Lord. He told me in His word that he would never give me anything I couldn't handle. so whenever something goes wrong, how come the rest of the world blames it all on God?

You must be a very special person Trace. Most people in your situation would blame the doctors. I was a cancer and leukemia doc for 20 years before I had to move on and do something else. Too many good people would die with bad diseases no matter how hard I worked to help. I was never sued and my patients rarely blamed me for bad outcomes with advanced cancer, BUT very very often they would be angry with the primary care doctor who "missed it early" or their place of work for some perceived toxic exposure. It seems to be human nature to blame someone or something for the bad things that happen. I lost my dad and my 18 year old son last year. I didn't think I could handle losing my only son, but somehow we get through. I still have a daughter who is now the world to me. You too have a daughter who needs you. I think you will have a lot of prayers said for you from the people who have answered.

Many people do this because their faith falters - not so unlike like a little child tantruming when their parents can't or won't fix something for them the way THEY want it. So often mankind wants God to fix everything in THEIR way, and this causes much sadness. Our world can dish out such hard stuff somtimes! I'm sorry for your loss, but I get the feeling you know they are "just away" and you WILL be with them again. Till then, keep the faith!

Additional comment: I also think people blame God because they do not understand God and who God really is, what His purposes really are; and the difference between that and what He does and what people do. I mean just look at the ones who think God is the mythological one, or the one who is a puppeteer... no wonder their faith falters ... under the weight of a false notion about God.

He didn't tell you anything. "His word" was written by a bunch of guys with nothing better to do than to start a cult and teach everyone how to appease the fictional god with sacrifices and burnt offerings so they could have healthy crops, fertile and obedient wives, strong sons, and daughters that they'd be willing to give up as sex slaves to men of the village. And when people starting straying because they thought god sounded too brutal they introduced the "tough love" character of Jesus the christ.

You live your life and base your beliefs on a 2000 year old out of date guide book. Would you use the manual for a Ford Model T to help you fix a 2007 Ford mustang?? Of course you wouldn't.... because it is out dated and obsolete. It does not apply to the new vehicles. just as the bible does not apply to life now. It was meant for a primitive people with primitive beliefs. You cling to it to justify the deaths of your family... as if there is some greater purpose. What is god's purpose for letting all but your daughter die? It makes no sense at all... and you sit there with your primitive mindset saying that god would never give you anything you couldn't handle. So... apparently he doesn't think you can handle a wife and children since he took those away from you. Wouldn't that be interfering with the "free will" he supposedly gave you?

What do you mean "the rest of the world" does this? Not everybody blames their problems on deities, let alone your religion's deity.

As for those who do, well when people are taught that the world was created and is still ultimately run by somebody who is omnipotent and takes interest in people's personal lives, it stands to reason that he must be responsible for what goes on too. And when grief hits people, it's common to want to blame somebody or some concept in hope of alleviating the pain.

Frankly, I think it's better to just ditch the idea of a nosy deity, take responsibility for one's own actions, and stop asking "why" at some point.

1. Because that is what the devil wants us to do. If notice, what the devil was subtlety attributing malicious intent to God in his conversation with the women in Eden, charging that God was actually holding back from Adam and Eve what was best, that God was selfishly keeping them from being like Him, which is just what the devil selfishly lusted after and sought to do (Isaiah. 14:12-14). Yet God knew what was best for His creation, and to know Him was the real blessing, and which fellowship the lying devil broke by inducing them to sin.

2. We are born with a sense of justice, and life does not treat us justly we seek to attribute blame, usually to persons but since God is almighty He becomes the ultimate scapegoat, and which in fact Jesus because (Is. 53: 2Cor. 5:21; 1Pet. 3:18).

3. We have a sinful nature that is prone to sin, and i sometimes react wrongly to God for things i have a hard time with.

Yet God is not to be blamed for the world's evils, as He did not make robots, but persons who can respond to love and truth, or or evil and deception. and all the world suffering is caused by souls making created things their "god," and thus breaking God's good laws and misusing the good things God has given us. It will not be that way and Heaven, and ultimately those who wil not have His will be done iobn earth as it is in Heaven must have there end in a place that is just the opposite of God's good Heaven - that of the lake of fire.

But for the true obedient believer, even though it is through much tribulation that enter into the kingdom of God (Act 14:22), "we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." (Rom 8:28). Bless the Lord.

Well, it’s quite simple. Although I am very sorry to hear of your losses, I am sure that if your wife and two sons had been saved by the physicians who treated them while they were in the hospital, you would have called it a miracle and you would have attributed it all to God. You can’t have it both ways. It is irrational to attribute good things to God, but to not place any blame on him when bad things occur or when he “chooses” not to intervene. I am only challenging your logic. I am confident that the God you believe in does not exist. No God intervenes in the affairs of humans. People must learn to accept the reality that when bad things happen, it isn’t always someone’s fault and when good things happen, it isn’t because of God. Sometimes good things just happen by chance and sometimes other people cause good things to happen. However, I am happy to see that your faith in that God has helped you to cope with the losses. Nonetheless, it does not mean that your God is real.

Trace, your testimony is powerful. Your faith is what all christians need to have. You will be with them in heaven. Until then enjoy your little girl.

Yes the rest of the world finds God when they want to blame Him for something. That they didn't get what they want when they want it. It is amazing that so many dont want to follow Him but question their circumstances and curse the Lord.

Continue to grow in the Lord, Trace, and you will continue to find the peace that you have displayed.

First of all, my deep condolences for your loss. It's more than anyone should ever have to bear.

BUT, IF God would never give you anything you couldn't handle, does that mean that if you were a weaker, less capable person your children and your wife would still be alive now? If so, how horrifying, but that's the logical conclusion of that idea.

Its funny how when things are going good no one says "oh, yeah God made this good thing happen" but all the sudden when something bad happens...whoa, watch out, God definately did it and woe to anyone who does not believe God is horrible.
I am sorry to hear about your wife and kids. You are such a great example. Thank you! God bless.

According to your religion, your god created the entire world knowing in advance everything that would happen - he even created satan knowing everything he would ever do, and still created him in that same exact way.

Your son's death was also part of his plan, right? or was your god unwilling or unable to help him? hint: in the bible, god kills 42 kids for making fun of a bald guy.

How about christians that are driven to suicide? did he also not give them more than they could handle? how about kids who are raped and killed?

Don't worry - I don't blame your god for anything - I know the difference between reality and make-believe.

How about kids that are raped
