Acetiminophen (american), Paracetamol (uk) and aspirin.
Ibuprofen is normally used as an anti inflammatory and should always be taken with food.
Obviously with any medication, too many are bad for you and only should be taken when absolutely necessary.
Try accupressure. If they are frequent cure the cause - perhaps you need to visit a chiropractor as your neck may be out of alignment.
If they are just very infrequent I think personally that acetiminophen/paracetamol is the best

Acetaminophen Vs Ibuprofen Vs Aspirin

Aspririn is relatively harmless when taken in normal doses. Ibuprofen is also, relatively harmless. Ibuprofen falls into the pain killer category of NSAIDs, which means nonsterroidal anti inflammatory drug. NSAIDS are VERY hard on your stomach... but VERY effective. I swear by ibuprofen, but each person will have a different approach to kill their own pain. Some people swear by tylenol... personally I think it's worthless! Just be sure, whatever you take... take it with food and drink, and don't exceed the recommended dosage. With Ibuprofen, of course it tells you to not take anymore than 2 tablets in 4 hours... you can take up to 800mg in one dose as long as you take it with food, and don't do it habitually. Just don't exceed the recommended daily dose. And if you drink alcohol, be cautious of any pain killer, especially aspirin as it is a blood thinning agent.

Neither is better than the other.

Use what works.

Don't use it to excess.

Make sure you drink enough fluids.

If your stomach hurts and you've been taking aspirin, stop or at least take it with food.

Generally, as long as taking a pain reliever is a relatively rare event, you should be safe with either, assuming you don't have some sort of condition or allergy that you have not mentioned.....

It really depends on your body. Regular aspirin works great for some, but can irritate the stomach. Usually if you take it with food, it's not as bad. Tylenol works great, but too much acetaminophen can damage your liver. Ibuprofen works great as an anti-inflammatory, but sometimes doesn't reduce pain. I have found that Aleve, (naproxen-sodium) works the best for me. Once per day, no stomach upset, no liver damage. It takes a little longer to take effect, but lasts all day.

I think it is Tylenol. They don't work that well tho. I occasionaly take an aspirin or ibuprofen which work good. I like aspirin.

it'll depend on you. not everyone reacts the same way to the same medication, it may be that aspirin works for you, and not ibuprofen, or vise versa. as long as you don't go over the recommended dose, it shouldn't cause too much problems. It's once you're taking dosage as the prescription medications that you'll start to do some damage.

Actually Acetomeniphen (Tylenol) is best unless you take huge doses over a long period of time. Ibuprofen is good too but mostly used for inflammation.

All are bad for your body but if you must, take Paracetamol (Tylenol is a big US brand if you are in USA), also called Acetaminophen - if your liver is OK and if you can get them over the counter (that means they are fairly safe without medical supervision). Any recurring or chronic inflammation or pain needs a thorough investigation and management.

Consider alternative treatment options also.
