What's the big deal? You're freaking out like you're coming from Iraq or something. Canada is a friendly country w/ the U.S. so why would there be ANY problem? When you get married, you are automatically entitled to becoming a U.S. citizen. I would contact the U.S. embassy in Canada for answers. You should also be able to find plenty of answers online.

My friend got married two years ago and was in the same situation - his wife was American and he's Canadian. They applied for her to have Canadian residency but eventually it was taking too long and they went to the US. You need to go onto the American embassy website in Canada and everything you need to know to apply for a visa or green card is there. It's not hard and is actually easier to move to the US than it is to move to Canada.
Don't worry - it shouldn't take too long. You'll need to do an interview and a few other things to apply for your residency.
Oh, and also, as long as you aren't working in the US you can stay there for three to six months without needing a visa, etc.

Its not true that you are entitled to becoming a citizen. Living in a country and being a citizen are two very different things. I think you should contact a lawyer, just to get reliable answers and cross all your Ts and dot all your i's... Laws are tricky and confusing, and often depend on other circumstance surrounding you.

You get married in Canada, then you need your completed marriage license WITH YOU when you move to the US. You will need to apply for either US or dual citizenship.
I think it is about to become academic in a few years... the reptiles in our governments are trying to do away with national sovereignty with their "North American Union" deal.

I agree with "Fizzystuff".... are you a Canadian citizen? Is you finance' a USA citizen?
You should contact a reputable lawyer (or law firm) who has EXPERIENCE in imigration law, citizenship and marriages involving other countries. An Attorney who deals in these matters daily, should be your BEST resource....

in case you enter as a focused visitor with the purpose of having married and staying then you definately are committing immigration fraud and possibility deportation in case you get caught. you would be safer to stick to the suitable procedures and characteristic your fiance sponsor you.
