I had a UTI back at the beginning of the year and took care of it. Now, for the last 4 or 5 months I notice (mostly after my period is over) that when I urinate it smells slightly, burns, is cloudy, and I feel the urge to urinate frequently. I've went to the doctors numerous of times and the tests keep coming back negative. But now, on Saturday I noticed a aching pain in my back on the left side where your kidneys are located. I thought I hurt my back, but now the pain is gone on the left part of my back and now is on my right side today.

Is there a chance that there has been an infection but they were overlooking it? And now it has moved up to my kidneys? I have a doctors appointment on Wed. Just want to know what others thought.

I think it is very possible that you have a kidney infection.

I am prone to UTI and kidney infections and I always know when I am getting a kidney infection because of the lower back pain. This pain can range from mild to very severe.

Most of the time you can slightly push on your stomach and you also can feel slight pain in that area when you have a kidney infection.

Other symptoms are also nausea and a low grade temp.

If the pain persists I would go to a urologist instead of a general physician. You will definitely need a round of antibiotics to clear up a kidney infection.

There are some over-the-counter pills called AZO that you can find at any store(Walmart, Walgreens) that temporarily will help with your symptoms.

Yes Is there any blood in the urine? It could be you need an ultra sound to make sure you do not have kidney stones.

Drink lots of water and add cranberry juice to your daily morning routine. And DO NOT hold back going potty on a regular basis because that can cause other problems. Make this a regular life habit.

There should be a leaflet inside the box that tells you about the possible side effects, have a read and see what it says. Some antibiotics you take with food, some before food so make sure you follow the guidelines as instructed.
