If you're having trouble sleeping, this can be a sign of many different things.

If you've just started having difficult, either falling asleep or staying asleep, and it has lasted less than 2-3 weeks, it might just be stress. If you're having no problem falling asleep, but often wake early, then it may be a sign of depression -- especially if it's been going on for more than 3-4 weeks. If you're working out within 2 hours of bedtime, that's not good. Also, make sure you're not drinking more than 2-4 servings of caffeine a day, or using something that has caffeine or other stimulants in it. Never drink caffeinated beverages within 3 hours of trying to sleep. Avoid alcohol at/near bedtime as well.

Some options to try, however:

Natural:
Melatonin 1mg.: I tablet at bedtime.
Herbal tea (no caffeine) like: Passion Flower, Valerian, and others you can find that promote "sleep." You can probably find "Celestial Seasonings" at the store. They have a "Sleepy Time Tea" that's really good.

Meds:
Tylenol PM or Advil PM -- take one at bedtime. Active ingredient is same as Benadryl.

There are other options you can discuss with your medical provider that are prescribed. Sometimes its just a matter of getting your sleep cycle back in rhythm.

Best of luck!

This works and you won't need to take anything. When you first lay down, clinch every muscle in your body as hard as you can and CONCENTRATE on it. Do it for at least a minute or as long as you can. THEN start breathing deeply and SLOWLY. In through your nose. Out through your mouth and listen to it. It will sound like the Ocean. I know it sounds corny, but you will be out in no time. Stay off the meds and orgasms make it worse for people that have a hard time sleeping, so that is a myth. Get that accomplished well before sleep time because it releases adrenaline and that will keep your system active.

Try deep breathing and other relaxation techniques, try drinking a glass of warm milk or chocolate, try listening to some soothing music etc. If these don't help, ask a doctor to prescribe you some sleep inducing medication but be careful since some of them are habit forming. There are alternative solutions also and you may explore them at www.about.com and similar sites for alternative health.

try the natural way by increasing the vitamin B in your system. If this does not help then see a doctor. Also what are you putting in your body throughout the day? This may effect your sleep at night.
