That's not true. Origionally they started docting the dogs tails because of what they call happy tail syndrome. It's when a dog wags it's tail with such force it tends to split it open. The dogs tail has so many nerves and blood vessles and it's can easily get infected once split. That is the only reason they dock tails on dogs. Some people want them docked for dog fighting but most vets today refuse to do it unless the dog shows signs that the tail will split. If you don't want to get it docked then don't but if you start noticing your dogs tail hitting walls forcefuly you may want to talk to your vet about having it done as a preventative. Contrary to what so many people say there is no age limit to having the tail docked. My vet has done it for several dogs who have gotten infections in the tail. We almost had to do it to my German Shephard because he split his tail open four times and it got infected the fourth. We ended up having to put him down due to cancer. I wouldn't do it unless it was necessary.

Docking a dogs tail has absolutely no influence on behavior.
Tails are usually docked when puppies at between 3-5 days
old. It would be very difficult, although not impossible to dock the tail of a 3 month old dog.
Aggression and "uncontrol" are the result of poor training, not
a long tail. Take your dog to obedience classes. This is the best way to have an obedient, controlled and happy dog. I also recommend 2 books: How to be Your Dog's Best Friend, and How to Raise a Happy and Healthy Puppy.
Good Luck!

Your friend has no idea what, he or she is talking about. Docking the dogs tail, or not docking a dog's tail, has no influence on what their personality is. It is too late to dock the tail anyway, if you can even find a vet, that is willing to do it. A Lot of Vets have stopped doing it, because it is cruel, excruciatingly painful for the puppy and very unnecessary. Tail Docking is for cosmetic purposes only, nothing else. If you want to get an idea of what they do to the poor puppy, and how painful it is for the puppy, go to You Tube and type in "Tail Docking Videos"! It will give you an idea of how they do it, if you can even watch it! It's really sad, the pain these poor little puppies go through.

Your friend is just plain wrong.

Tail docking is an appearance thing for most breeds and it not necessary for good health or good temperament. It's actually been banned in several countries for being a cruel practice.

Besides that, 3 months is way too old to dock a tail. It is usually done within a few days of birth. You are way past the point you could have it done it without causing your rot a lot of distress and pain.

Absolutely Nothing will happen if you don't dock. the docking is just to make people happy andhas no medical reasons. That is unless something is wrong withteh tail.
The tail if it were going to be done at this age is extremely painful a tail dock should have been done at 2-4 days old by the breeder

I don't know where your friend got this information, but it is absolutely ridiculous!
Tail docking is done around 3 days of age. The older a dog gets, the more painful it becomes. Leave the tail and enjoy your dog.

The only reason to dock a tail is to prevent future injury to the tail, and even that is not necessary.
An undocked tail will not affect the personality or behavior of the dog. She is too old to dock it anyway. It would be an amputation at this point, so there is no reason to even worry about it.

In the history of the breed the tail was docked to eliminate an anchor for something or someone to grab onto (it's a working dog) - so unless you plan on using your dog for fighting, hunting bear, etc., then no - it's not necessary to have it docked. A lot of the breed organizations may recommend it because this is how the breed should "look," but if you're also not showing your dog - forget about it.
Unnecessary.

docking has nothing to do with behavior. What does she think, that all the bad behavior "lives" in the tail? It's too late now to do anything anyways. Docking has to be done right after the puppy is born.

no it is just for show having its tail docked and will not change the behavior of your dog.you see some different breeds like poodles or spaniels with docked tails and if you notice other dogs the same breed have long tails. it a matter of choice and apperance.i'd just leave it if you want too.the only thing that might happen is when your dog is happy it might hit you with its tail or knock something over lol. good luck.
