If you're referring to canned hunts, they are both purely for human entertainment (and unethical).

Dog fighting is sadomasochistic. The more the animal suffers the better the show. Animals are bred in captivity and affection is withheld. They are social animals and this is akin to mental abuse. If the dogs don't perform well, they are often killed in painful, brutish ways. I don't care for deer hunting, but hunting is a natural activity in the wild. Deers are born wild and live natural lives. Without deer hunting, their populations would (and actually have) exploded to the point that they suffer starvation and are more likely to be plagued by disease. Since humans have done away with almost every natural predator that would normally hunt deer, hunters are actually needed. An ethical and skilled deer hunter shoots to kill with as little unnecessary pain as possible. Plus they can eat their kill or donate them to a program to feed the needy.

Are you serious? Dog fighting, from all that I've read and heard about it, is a rather vicious activity. We're talking various forms of torture, long, dragged out deaths, I don't know how anyone can take pleasure from observing these things. Most people I know that enjoy deer hunting do so out in the 'wild' not some ranche where the deer are 'domesticated' but regardless - these animals are NOT tortured or abused in anyway, just fattened up for the hunt. As far as I know, these are legal, where as dogfighting (obviously) is not.
Please, quit defending the actions of a moron.

both are wrong. Hunting is fine but it needs to be wild and used for meat, not just for sport. Any hunting that is done with captive animals, ranches, or anything I believe is wrong. Dog fighting is wrong, why make two animals fight just so people can watch, that is disgusting.

hunting domesticated deer is for p u s s i e s and fake guys TRYING to impress their friends. I totally believe in hunting, this country would be over run by deer if we didn't hunt but get out in the woods and hunt.. do your research and hunt like a man.
IN NO way can the two be related

In my opinion both are horrible, but to me dog fighting is taking 2 of mans best friends and putting them in a situation to rip each other apart, the other just takes a poor deer out in its normal surroundings and shoots them, while one generates loads of money the other usually don't pay much. but as I said they are both horrific, and senseless abuse of animals, and no I don't eat deer meat, ( its so nasty)! every time I see a hunter I just want to vomit. I feel that for one day nature can reverse its self and the nasty people that do such nasty things like this can turn into the animals they do it against and the animals would have there chance to show these people how it feels to be hunted and abused and ripped apart for others pleasure. It sickens me!

Dog fighting is, of course, illegal. The other practice you are referring to is called a 'canned hunt' - in which the animals are restrained with fences and cannot ever actually flee the hunter. This terrible practice is often used with big game species such as lion, water buffalo, and exotic antelope. It enables the 'hunter' to have the 'experience' without having to travel to Africa or spend days tracking prey. Unfortunately, a lot of endangered species end up in these situations, and as you've mentioned, tame animals. Often zoos that are closing unknowingly sell their animals to private 'preserves' that do this to an old, tame animal.
The ASPCA is working on making 'private preserves' and canned hunts as illegal as dog fighting. It's just as cruel.

dog fighting is cruel.
dogs are trained to kill each other, and often times they do. Dogs are viewed as pets in many countries.
Hunting for deer is hunting for food. Even if they are domesticated. Most people do not hunt for private deer that are pets though. thats weird.

dogs don't fight deer they chase them to the hunters, they never lay a tooth or a claw on the deer, so i think the difference would be quite obvious.
i hope all you guys who are anti hunting (btw real hunting is done in the woods not behind a fence) never find yourselves too far away from a foodland.....i prefer my meat not pumped full of chemicals, hormones, and steroids personally.

Dog fighting is a malicious activity - not that I agree with hunting ... BUT, hunting is an actual sport, it involved precision and accurate shots. Not torture and cruelty. Hunting is also a sport, not a malicious acitivity used to get off on an animal's suffering. Huge difference. Sorry you are confused.

you kill the deer
in dog fighting the dogs can be torn up, but not killed. they suffer while thier wounds are being healed up to fight again.
most deer ranch hunters do it for trophies, but they also hunt for food. these animals are killed not tortured
there is no way to compare the two based on they are two totally different things.
