Christians, I believe there is no god, and I believe what scientists and scholars teach about science and evolution. I have been going to church for years (since I was an infant!) but I simply cannot have faith in your ancient mysticism that appeals to emotionalism, fear, and unsubstantiated faith.
I can't "prove" there is no god, or that your beliefs are false (beyond pointing out the occasional Bible glitches)... just as I can't disprove Islam, the Jews, Hindus, etc. Will my faith in science, logic, and objective examination of facts cause me to burn in Hell for all of eternity?
If that is the case, then I stand by my decision even more firmly to reject your god of fear, faith, and ignorance.

You say "have been going to church for years (since I was an infant!"
Then you know of your free will choice and that God is a righteous and merciful God.
It is God who created you and God who sustains you.
If you left you car running and never returned to it do you suppose it would die?
God is a righteous and loving God he can not be joined to sin.
God is all knowing and foreknew that man would sin.
God had a plan ot save his creation before he created them.
God came to the world as a man and overcame temptation and was crucified and died in your place overcoming sin and death he was resurrected in glory. This was his choice to pay the penalty fo death for you. It is your choice to accept or reject him.

You can't prove evolution either! I think you need to weigh all your options and look at every matter objectively. I think when your facing an unknown and you come at it already biased, then you'll get from it what you expect to get. If you can honestly say you have taken all evidence for Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Science, etc. into account objectively and still find yourself an agnostic then I suppose there is nothing more you can do. With that being said there is so much writing and views on everything, that I don't think in a lifetime you could cover them all.

The idea of eternally burning hell is an idea that is implanted by devil himself to discredit a loving God. Please get that idea out of your mind.
Scientists are not infallible. Science is a progressive field. Every now and then the textbooks have to be revised debunking the old theory for the new one. Study science to learn the facts and the facts are only as they are understood today. They could be different tomorrow. Don't surmise based on those facts. Surmising leads you away from science.

Since you have left the faith which talks about hell and burning,it's obvious that it's tenets are no more applicable to you.Say,I belong to a different faith(other then Christianity) and if a Christian tell me that for some act I shall burn in hell,I wouldn't even understand what he talking about, leave aside believing in that.Your feeling is because of residual effect of Christianity in your mind and as you expand your rational thinking,it shall become more subdued and then slowly fade away.Ditto for your feelings on other such issues.

I suppose if you have made an exhaustive and objective analysis of the facts God couldn't fault you. But don't we all find we don't know much, that there is always more to know.
What do you make of christian ministries such as David Hogan's (www.fathersglory.com for some audios+videos, www.freedom-ministries.us his website)? He's seen 200 people raised from the dead as signs of the truth of the gospel and testimonies to God's compassion in his ministry to Mexican Indians.

The wages of "sin" is not eternal torment, but death. The gift of YAHOSHUA is eternal life. If you have not gone to Him, you will not have eternal life. No you won't be tortured forever, for if He did that then it would be true that "you will not truly die" , and that is a lie. I cannot have faith in the babbling of "scientists" that something many orders of magnitude more complex than a computer could just happen by accident. Churchianity is a heathen religion, but there is truth, and the creator would like for you to receive it.

Well Hell does exist.
If you want to take hell out of the bible, because you are afraid, then there is reason #1 why most don't believe and reason #1 why many many man made religions have come forth. It's not pleasant to think about and it's not "cool" to discuss, but it is there.
In answer to the original question, everyone suffers in this life, no one is exempt from suffering, I would rather suffer for a purpose and at a temporal state than to suffer for no purpose and in an eternal state.
None of us are perfect, we live in an imperfect world.
There is one savior, one way out and that Jesus Christ.

When you say I believe, you are stating "I do not know". This works in religious as well as atheistic view. You cannot deny the Life in you yet you identify with the story of your Life. To never touch the fullness of the Life that IS you is suffering. And yes you can suffer as long as you deny the Life in focus on belief.

I cannot say wether you are or are not going to Hell for your sin, that is for God and only God to decide. I understand your reasoning, and I hope the God will have mercy on your soul. I wish you luck in your journey and hope that you live a wonderfully full, happy, love filled life :)
