Is organic food really that much better than conventional foods?What if you just cannot afford it?Are you really going to get sick in the future over regular fruits,vegs,etc.?

If you stopped eating everything they tell you is bad for you, you would die of starvation. We have eaten those foods for centuries, and no one is really dying from it. Go ahead and eat like the rest of the world.

You should not feel bad. You are trying to do what you feel is best. If you eat healthy fruits, veg, etc. you are doing the best you can for your family. Many people today cannot afford the high prices of organic foods and I think that people are just trying to make the extra dollar by making people believe that they are so much better that the natural foods grown in the gardens.

Oh love, don't feel guilty. I have 2 perfectly healthy children that have been fed on 'normal' mik, yoghurt, fruits and veg etc.

I personally think the whole organic thing is a new way for retailers to squeeze just a litte more money out of people, especially Mum's and Dads that are trying to provide the best for their children. I can't even tell the difference with organic produce and I'm a chef!

With regards to their future health I'm 33 and I'm just as healthy as my kids so don't be worried.

Just do what you're doing, stop fretting and enjoy your children, they aren't little for very long.

Good luck x

if it was as bad as organic food proponents would lead you to believe, we would all be sick, dead, or dying by now. The FDA has placed a lot of restrictions on what kind of pesticides are allowed to be sprayed on crops, you should feel safe eating non-organic foods. Frankly, I am more concerned with the bacteria the bugs leave behind on the organic stuff than I am concerned about pesticides and possible growth hormones. You shouldn't feel guilty... the non-organic stuff is still good for you.

Don't feel guilty about things you can't do. Remember the phrase from the old serenity prayer? It makes sense even if you aren't religious.
"God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference."

Wash your produce well to remove the chemicals and that will help a lot. There are pleny of people in their 80's and 90's that didn't eat organically grown food and they're doing just fine.

Hi. It seems we are made to feel guilty for everything these days, even trying to do what is best. I will tell you that I finally started my own small vegetable garden 2 years ago and that has been wonderful. I can grow my own "organic" veggies and trust me, it is SO much cheaper, and I have leftovers to give to my neighbors. If you don't want to put out a garden, I'd say just wash your produce really well. What more can we do? Good luck to you. :)

Don't feel guilty, its hard to buy all organic. Buy organic when you can, and read what's in your food. They really pump in a lot of junk in our foods, things we shouldn't be eating. I'm on a fixed income and I try to buy organic when I can, I think Wal-mart is starting to carry organic foods now too. Even though I don't like Wal-mart, you may want to try there?

it is sad that you would think you have to feel guilty for not being able to provide organic food to your family due to financial reasons....but your family still needs fed....try shopping at your local farmers market for fresh fruits and veggies, you might also try and find someone who raises free range chickens for the eggs and meat (lots of people do it as 4H projects etc etc) if you live near an Amish Community they have wonder veggies and free range chickens and organic pork) and they are usually inexpensive...you might try and grow your own veggies (if space allows) , research online about reducing the amount of processed foods in your diet by making your sauces from fresh local grown veggies etc etc etc......

You need to pick and chose where you can. For some foods, carrots, apples, lettuce and some others, it really is best to go organic, but for others it matters less.

I'll try to find a link to post later - I think I've got one at home...

All food is organic. i believe you mean G.M.O. (Genetically Modified Organism)free. if you are american, don't worry most of your fresh produce is grown in europe due to the general consumer scepticism surrounding G.M.O. in America. In my opinion, the only way to be semi-sure something is not genetically modified is to grow it yourself. Whether GM is bad for you, we will only know for sure in 40 or so years. until then think of it as you have smoking during the 1940's. i would not worry about feeling guilty though, life is too short.
