You have probably strain your neck muscle.

The basic thing to do now is to do the opposite of what you usually do when you were doing pull ups previously.

And of cos......relax your neck muscle and focus on your back muscle during the pull ups.

One sure way to improve your pull up is to do as many as you can without "cheating" or "kicking" and once you can't pull anymore - Hang on the bar for as long as you can.

This would improve your endurance and your gripping power which is essential for developing the muscle needed for better pull ups.

You are probably pinching a nerve and as a result, you are getting the shock and pain. Can use ice to the area, stop the exercises for a while. Go back later and try them again.
You might try rotating your neck to left and right to limber up the area, esp. before trying pull ups. If this does not help, talk with your doctor.
