Don't downplay her illness. Be patient with her. Be a shoulder to cry on. Be there for her. Call her often. Do things with her. Get her out of the house. Find her a therapist or doctor (if she doesn't already have one). Do something with her that involves physical activity. Encourage her to spend time with friends. Talk to her about her problems or whatever is on her mind. Listen to her. Stand up to family or friends who downplay what she's going through. Talk to her about her hopes and dreams. Don't leave her alone when she is very upset. Encourage her. Let her know she can and will get through this. Make sure she knows you are there for her. Help her see the bright side of things. Laugh with her. Talk about times in the past when you knew she was happy. Don't give up on her!

At that age you're certain to be emotional and temper swings are common. Hormones are whatever to keep in mind. Thing is persons are calling out bipolar or ADD adore it was once the flu. Sometimes it takes months for signs to come back through it doesnt occur by means of the hour. If your particularly involved ask your mother if she thinks she will have to see a profesional.

Ask her.
Generally, be supportive and consistently there. When she's swinging, understand it's the illness while also helping her to learn when she needs to get med adjustments to head off the episodes. Recognize that you cannot make her do anything she does not want to do, but at the same time, you do not have to put up with overly obnoxious behavior. That's a social cue she needs to learn and if you don't reinforce it somewhat, she'll have a harder time figuring out when to get her meds adjusted. I'm not saying be rude or inconsiderate, but you as a person shouldn't be put down or run over because of her illness.
~bipolar. Even after all these years, my brother still is my rock.

Shweetie, unless you're a doctor and can prescribe medication, there's not much you can do except be supportive. If your sister has true bipolar disease, then she has a chemical imbalance in her brain. It's not her fault and there's nothing she can do to correct it, other than take medication to resupply her brain with the chemicals it needs to regulate mood. If your sister hasn't been to a doctor, try to get her to go to one. Many people with bipolar disease feel fine and will often deny they have a problem, but they can make life very difficult for those around them. It can be difficult to get them into treatment. It's a tough condition to live with, both for the person who has the disorder and for their loved ones. Good luck to you and your sister.

manic depression is a big deal.
some people dont think it is,
but it honestly is.
i'm hoping she has seen a doctor
and is taking the right meds for it?
but you need to be by her side,
let her know youre there.
get her into some therapy, that honestly helps.
it's pricey, but its worth your sisters life.
my mom and my boyfriend are also manic.
be positive for her.
i wish you the best of luck.
