I dont get why people dont take the responsibility to train their dogs.... not just potty training, but i mean AKC / obedience training..... I absolutely cant stand it when a dog wont listen to its owner. DOGS NEED TO BE TAUGHT MANNERS TOO

and then they get neglectful towards the dog because it wont listen to them and they wonder why their dog is agressive

I agree, cynthia. I think a lot of it is due to ignorance. It's like having a baby. It sounds really cool until you do it and you find out how hard it is. People don't understand how much more enjoyment they'll get out of their pet if the animal is trained. I try to encourage new dog owners or potential dog owners to go to obedience school early, mostly by example. Whenever we foster a dog we go through extensive obedience training with them and then train the new owners so they can make the most of their relationship.

Because they are too lazy and cheap to pay for the lessons, then attend them. A dog needs to know the basics of obedience, if only to keep it safe. If it does not respond when it's owner recalls it, it runs the risk of getting into danger. I really don't like it when I see a dog without any manners. I think badly of the owner and I feel sorry for the poor dog, being stuck with such an owner!

Some are ignorant and don't realize the benefits of a well trained dog, or think a pup with "grow out" of a bad behavior. Some maybe wasted there money on a bad trainer, who didn't really teach them anything useful, so they were not set up correctly to continue on their own. Some think that because they have a little dog, they don't need to teach it manners... this really irritates me! Some are just plain lazy and don't want to waste their precious money on proper training of their dog, cuz the dog isn't worth it and they don't care how it acts.

I personally really enjoy training with my dog and could not imagine not doing it.

I think that the biggest problem with pets today is the lack of responsible ownership. A genuinely responsible owner takes the time to train, socialize, vaccinate, exercize, play with and love their dogs. Most people have the love aspect, but lack most of the others. That is the main reason you see unbalanced dogs exhibit agressive, nervous , and anxious behavior. If people would do some research on the breed they have chosen, and dedicate themselves to providing for the specific needs of their breed including training and obedience, breed bans would be obsolete.

Training a dog is serious, full time work. I had an aggressive german shepard that we adopted when she was 2 because she was biting and had till she was 10, it was tough, but when you know your dog you have to keep her out of situations where they will get in trouble. We built a huge pen for her and socialized her carefully -an owner has to be responsible. We just got a new GS puppy and the poor baby has already learned to sit, fetch, go outside and is enrolled in puppy school in his first week in our home. A dog is not just a cute accessory, it is entirely dependent on you to learn the proper way to behave and what is appropriate. I may be exhausted, I may not want to walk my cute little pup and just let him chew the furniture or on people while I do my own thing, but it is not a option. You wouldn't ignore a baby, you send your children to school to learn, you have to do the same to your puppy if you want a well-behaved, happy, healthy adult dog.

My thought is that too many people go out and buy a dog thinking that if they leave it out side or in the crate all day that the dog would just learn on its own, I know how stupid! but most of the time the people that get the dog dont have the time or patence to spend on there dog, and the money aspect of it, I know alot of people that have disobediant dogs and cant figure out why the dog acts up the only thing I tell them is you have to start training the dog they dont come pre programed, and maybe when you get your head out of your butt and pay attention to your dog with out putting him on a runner all day because the dog is out of your hair, maybe you can realise that a dog is not a possesion and it takes alot of love, patence, and training to own a obediant dog. I have a friend that has a Jack Russel Terrior and I watched the dog over the weekend and let me tell you the dog was out of control, I own a pit bull terrior and my sis in law also owns a pit bull, well that JR attacked my sis in laws pit and would not let go, the pit cried out in pain but didnt retaliate he just walked away, when I told the JR owner what had happened she couldnt believe that her pit nor mine would even go near the Jack Russel out of fear, Both pits have been very well trained and know what to do if provoked ( walk away) but the jack russel had no training at all. with in one day I had that dog healing, sitting, staying. He just needs some work and attention.

Well, you're educating your puppy to worry you by means of yelling at him. Then they get stressed and have no idea what you desire. If you move to youtube and seem up coaching movies there are a few relatively well ones there that exhibit you precisely what to do. Are you utilizing treats to fortify what you desire your puppy to do? Petsmart and Petco have coaching categories which are really cheap and your neighborhood group has obedience coaching categories. I taught my puppy his tips/instructions. You simply ought to be sufferer with them. Seriously, he is almost always stressed by means of the yelling and afraid to do some thing so that it will displease you. When he does whatever incorrect like chewing whatever hes no longer intended to simply say NO in a organization, however no longer mad voice after which supply him one among his toys to bite on. You too can purchase books so that it will support with coaching. Basically, a few puppies be trained quicker than others however when they appreciate you they're going to do what you desire. You have a conversation predicament together with your puppy. A teacher or categories would guide you commonly.

because the normal dog owner does not know how to. and seeking a trainer seems a bit silly/costly or something. I can't understand why dogs don't get training. it not really that hard to do on ur own yet sooo many have behavoir problems. and a big reason so many are in shelters are not trained in the lest. people won't get help for unruly kids let alone their dogs.

i hate that people get one dog don't train it then chain it to a box just to get another pup and when it gets about 1 its not trained and it to goes on a chain.

it's sods law i'm afraid hon, i have 3 dogs, and found it to be vital and responsible on my part to make sure that they were all taught manners, basic obedience etc
you can start training dogs from 8 weeks old.
teaching basic manners should be an enjoyable part of dog ownership both for the owner and the dog.
why some people don't bother is beyond me.

You know what the most nerve wracking thing is? Forget other people.. How can you live with a dog that will not listen to you, its owner when you give it a simple command like "down" or "stay"? I train my dogs just for that reason alone, so I can live with them instead of them becoming a nuisance.
