Grow up. Why would you talk badly about a mentor. Do you even know what that word means? It is not just some one you look up to but someone who teaches you and pushes you to grow and learn and challenges you to push the limits you put on yourself. You are showing no respect for someone giving their spare time to helping you. She is ordering you to take public speaking class BECAUSE SHE IS YOUR MENTOR! Not b/c she is making fun of you. She wants you to overcome this. Just b/c you KNOW HOW to give a presentation does mean you are capable of giving one. A mentor is not a best friend that you share secrets with and gossip too. A mentor is a friend that cares about your growth as a person.

Sorry, I'm not quite sure what kind of relationship exists between you and your mentor. Is this person your professor? Your boss? I'm just wondering because you may or may not have to actually do what she tells you to do.

Perhaps the requirement to take public speaking is not related to the fear you expressed, but rather her observations of your skills. If your job requires public speaking and your boss thinks you don't have the skills necessary to do the job properly, it would be reasonable to have you do that kind of training.

Yes, this is payback for your indiscretion.

Take a course...it can't hurt, but take it in the spirit of a positvie step toward self-improvement. It will look good on your resume, too!

Good luck and don't let the management get you down!

No, it isn't bull. She's pushing you to put your fear behind you. By forcing it, she'll eventually scare the phobia from you. You'll never get over a fear of public speaking if you don't push yourself too..... Good job to her!!

Change mentors

A mentor is supposed to be above this kind of garbage.
If she isn't - you need a new mentor and she needs retraining.
