It was the Feast Day on which we CELEBRATE Mary's birth, though most likely not her "actual date of birth", just as Dec.25 is most likely not the "actual date of Christ's birth"; the fact that the day we celebrate is not the "actual date of birth" does not matter: that's when we celebrate and commemorate the births.

CJ--goodness gracious, you are very misinformed. Catholics (true Catholics) do not WORSHIP Mary, nor any one except GOD. "Praying" is simply a form of conversation with those who are not alive here on Earth. Yes, you can PRAY to God as well as WORSHIP Him; but you can also PRAY to any of the Saints, or Mary, or your dead Grandma if you want. There is a vast difference b/t PRAYER and WORSHIP, and so long as you only give WORSHIP to God, there is nothing wrong!

Peace.

Yeah funny enough though the month of May is also attributed to Mary but thats more to do with Mother earth and to back the easter message. Of course it is true they used a different calander and Christ wasn`t born at Christmas time and no one can remeber what happened to Joeseph and folk get really confused about how many times Christ appeared after his death and what does it all mean and Why does the Queen have two birthdays (am I the only one that doesn`t know ?) any way I was wondering Rena about the picture and your Gran do you think that was synchronisity? or just your gran saying hello?

That is very true. Last Saturday was the birthday of Mother Mary. It happened last Friday there was a big occasion in our city called the "Translacion" where the Virgin of Peñafrancia was transferred from Basilica Minore to the St. John Cathedral. Series of masses are said from early morning till evening everyday until She is returned back to her home the Cathedral. The following day was the occasion of Blessed Mother Mary. Virgin Peñafrancia is her feast day that started last friday and will end on September 15, 2007. It is her feast day in our locality. Mother Mary in the name of Virgin of Peñafrancia is transported back from the Cathedral to Basilica Minore on ride a big boat using the River Basin. It is a grand fiesta here in Naga City, Philippines.

Happy B-day Mama Mary! Viva!

It encourages entire openness to God in imitation of Mary. Fiat is the be conscious Mary used in keeping with the angel's fact that she could replace into the mum of God. In a nevertheless different and much extra profound which ability, it shows Jesus' own trustworthy obedience to the daddy in Heaven.

No, virgin Mary's birthday was Friday the 7th, or at least the Church celebrates it. Many blessings to you.

Mary was a sinner like everyone else, she needed to be saved by Jesus like eveyone else, she had sex with Joseph after Jesus' miraculous virgin birth, and had many children with Joseph. She is dead and can't hear you "praying" to her, and she plays no role whatsoever in salvation.

Catholics, who are an unsaved cult and not Christians, have taken the whore of Babylon and named her Mary, though she has no relation to the true biblical Mary which I described above.

Who cares? Nowhere do we find any record of when she was born. It is only man's idea of giving her a birth date.
