How would God stop him from doing so if he has free will?

Only indirectly, but even so, he is quite effective. His main method is to quote scripture (as he did to Eve, and Christ) but with just a tiny adjustment made to slightly misconstrue the meaning. A word dropped here, another added there... His disciples are rarely as subtle, but some are very adept.

The autographs of the Bible (the original MSS) have long disappeared so we only have copies of the originals now, but if you discount human error with them (and the copies were never said to be inspired of God the way the autographs were) it is astonishing how accurate today's Bibles are compared with the most ancient MSS available. There are slight variations, but those are not Satanic! For that you have to look to a few modern translations that outrightly twist the MSS by adding a word here, taking away a word there... God does not stop that happening. We need to be aware, and alert, however.

Personally I do not think that Satan has affected the words of the Bible. Theists know that the Bible was scripted by at least 4 authors in the old testament and 5 in the new testament. The first writings in the old testament must have come around the first evidence of a written language (about 3000 years ago) in the area of Isreal and the first writings of Jesus came at least 40 years after his death. 600 years later the old and new testament were reedited and decided upon by a group of "divinely inspired" people "chosen by god" about 500 years after that the bible was edited by the knight's templar in order to control the people and rid the kingdoms of "Paganism" but it was not until about 200 years later the bible was translated into english for the king's people to read and understand, but these translations were outlawed and the translators were killed and 100 years later their bones were dug up and burned (so they could be killed again?) So to think that the Bible was written by anyone other than superstitious bronze age poets is ridiculous. Actually the thougth that the events written in the Bible are true is quite ridiculous. The Earth is older than 10,000 years old, it is not the center of the universe, stars do not revolve around us, and there is no way light was created before the sun. In conclusion, Satan and God are mythological and had absolutely no hand in the writing of the Bible in any way.

The King James Version (KJV 1611 AD) is the only faithful translation in English, also other translations in that time like in Dutch the Statenvertaling (1637), in French the Louis Segond Bible and in Spanish, the Reina Valera Biblia.
All the NEW Bible translations are corrupt.

For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ. (2 Corinthians 2:15)

Of course satan actually does re write the bible that is why there are so many religions out there... you see what christians refuse to see is that they serve the devil... the devil requires blind faith to rule.... christians practice blind faith so he could rule them.... I read a dumb page online by billy graham... and he said let Jesus control your life... that is what satan needs your blindness so he can control your life... something bigger is coming... and the christians will find themselves on the wrong side of the battle... that is why there is fear about armageddon... because the christians fear it and they are the only ones talking about it.. for the rest of us it's good news knowing it's the end ot religious rule.

Satan has no power over the word, he only deceives people. Just like he deceived Eve.

No, he has no power except what we as humans give him. He lost all power when he was thrown out of heaven. Jesus confirmed it when He, Jesus, went to hell and took away the keys from satan.
