I need to open an account for direct deposit and an ATM card but don't need checks. I got into some trouble with my checking account a couple of years ago when I was in the hospital and off work for 2 months and now I can't seem to get an account.

You might go to www.chexvictims.com

It's a free discussion board for those who are on Chex.
They have a great database of banks and credit unions that do not use Chex. They do a wonderful job in keeping the database updated and it is also free to use.

Right now your best option in Indiana is US bank..please read the following and for more options got to http://chexvictims.com/cs , any info you will need to removal or banks and credit unions that do not use chexsystems can be found there for free.

URL: http://www.usbank.com

Special Note:

Most US banks are giving accounts to most people on chexsystems. These are regular accounts ..not 2nd chance checking...as long as you do NOT owe them money and you are not reported on your chexsystems report for any kind of " fraudulent activity " you can get an account here. It is best not to apply online but to go into a branch local to you. There are some branches that are still not not using this policy so it might be a good idea to call a branch local to you and ask about their policy first before going in. Some US branches have signs that actually say chexsystems.. no problem ..yet others will not open accounts at all ...from what we have been told you need to go to a location that is an " in store " location not a regular branch ..the " in store locations only " are the one approving these accounts not regular branches .......

If you can't open a checking, have it deposited to a savings account. Your employer can dump the money in a savings - then you can use cash and money orders.
The account doesn't need to be a checking account - that's the account you wouldn't be approved for. When direct deposit is sent - it is desigated as either a checking or savings savings deposit - so go open a savings account and have your paycheck deposited into that.

I can see that you need some information about removing negative Chexsystem listings. This is free information that can be found at my website. Good luck in finding a bank that won't verify the information. If your employer offers an account w/ direct deposit, they won't check w/ Chexsystems most of the time.
