Oh, sorry to hear that. He'll have known that you loved him and did a good job of taking care of him.

I had to have our American bulldog put down due to aggression issues that could not be resolved no matter what was tried. She'd attack cars that came into our driveway looked like scenes out of CUJO. She'd climb 10 foot tall fences to get at dogs walking down the road not even near our home. We tried everything even broke down and called in a trainer which was pointless she had not been like this but slowly over the years got to the point I was scared she'd hurt someone or something. We tried to have the Ameican Bulldog Resuce take her but they refused and I wouldnt put her in a pound. The day I was taking her to have her put down my heart was aching I loved and still do love her very much, anyhow she broke her collar (yet again) and attacked a dog that was being walked by an older lady I told the lady I was so sorry I'd pay any vet bills if there were any. As I came out of the back room where I held my dog til she passed the lady was coming out of the Vets office and handed me a bill for 450 dollars. I paid it and I dont regret putting my dog down imagine what she could do to a human.

I am sorry to hear of the loss of your dog, I'm sure you gave him a great life just remember all the good times you had together, its never easy having to have a dog put down i know Ive lost 3 and cats, it breaks your heart, my advice if you can is to get another one, it doesn't take away what you had with your dog it just helps to have another one needing your love.

For many of us, our pets are valued members of the family. Losing them is literally losing a family member and we will go through the grieving period the same that we would for a human family member. It is part of the responsibility we accepted when we chose to have a pet.

I am so sorry for your loss but I feel certain that your dog knew it was loved.

I'm so sorry, that you had to do that! It's such a hard decision to make! It is amazing, but not surprising, how attached you can get. They are loyal, trusting, great companions, non-judgemental, give unconditional love, are your best friend, are giving, their funny, and they have great big hearts. Dogs are also a great source of comfort, to people who haven't got anyone else. There is nothing like coming home to such a warm welcome. It would be extremely hard, not to get attached.

It's SHOCKING how attached you can get to pets! But what we get from them, the enjoyment the love and everything else.. It's very worth the heartbreak when they are gone.. Cause when the crying is done you still have wonderful memories!

I am very sorry to hear that. I lost my little girl last summer and it broke my heart. I swore I couldn't get another one and go through that pain again. Well, within 3 days I was bringing home a new one to love. It helped me deal with the loss and redirect my thoughts and love. I know this helped me but everyone is different.
Again, I am sorry for your loss. :* (

I'm so sorry to hear that! Went through that myself, earlier this year and afterwards I felt like I had lost a piece of myself. You can take solace that you made the best decission for your dog and no matter what the reason, it takes a very brave person to put their dog's needs above their own.
My very best wishes to you!
