Is there a scriptural basis for the Christian belief that Adultery is a far worse sin than Child Molestation?
They must believe it. Why else would they want a President removed from office for cheating on a wife they hate even more than they hate him?
And why else would they sell off Church Property, right out from under the Congregations who paid for and were using it in order to satisfy judgements against molesting priests, while doing everything in their power to shield priests and Church friendly politicians from prosecution--including, as one Bishop in Delaware did, asking Congregations to pray for the defeat of stronger molestation laws?

People from all walks of Life do molest children. But it's worse when they betray a Congregation's trust and then are protected by Church Authorities.

Actually, Cricket, he was impeached for being a Democratic President. And the final charge was "Obstruction of Justice," not perjury. I say "Final Charge" because no American should ever forget that by the Republican House Managers own count, there were 439 Unfounded Allegations.
Fortunately for Clinton and America, nobody believed at that point that there was any Justice to obstruct.

Aural, I'm not talking about sane people. I'm talking about Christians. Haven't seen a lot of overlap ther of late.

There is no Biblical prohibition against child molestation, but there is such a prohibition against adultery.

Again with the generalizations. No, Christians do not believe that adultery is worse than child molestation. No, we do not condone or support the actions of the priests and/or bishops in regards to child molestation within the Church.
It's a shame the media doesn't have a field day with the atheists who molest children....or are all atheists pure as the driven snow? You see, when a priest molests a child, it's sensational, meaning that the media can make a big deal out of it. When some godless loner who lives in his basement does it, well that's just not sensational enough...in fact it's not even unexpected. You don't have to be a priest to molest children, or a man, or a certain nationality, or anything else. People from all walks of life end up being child molestors, so maybe the incidents with the priests (which happened several years ago now) can finally be allowed out of the spotlight...they certainly did their share of damage to the Church.

I'll only speak to the first paragraph of your question.
Give the reading public a break here. Adultery is not a "far worse sin [or legal or ethical dilemma] than Child Molestation" in any sane person's book, ok?
The very word "molestation" implies non-consent and violence. It also falls under the heading of fornication, and there is that whole millstone around the neck thing.
Hairsplitting on such issues attests to why some folks can't be trusted with mere common-sense, golden-rule type guidelines, and must have a gazillion laws to follow.
The roots of bureaucracy!!! Of "the system."
Now we know some of the reasons it exists.
Your avatar looks like a sterotypical free thinker. Surely you can look up the verse you quoted and ponder upon more life-affirming interpretations of it. Doing so may contribute to today's much-needed peace movement.

So because they wanted him out of office for cheating on his wife (and doing it in the oval office) that means that feel adultry is worse the child abuse? I'm pretty sure if he had been molesting kids they'd have wanted him out as well.
Maybe they wanted him out for issuing pardons to child abusers?
EDIT TO ADD: "People from all walks of Life do molest children. But it's worse when they betray a Congregation's trust and then are protected by Church Authorities".
Really? Try telling that to the kids who were molested.

What about the candidates puffing out their chests to say how they're the best Christian ever yet they can't really point to any Christian acts (feeding the poor?, housing the homeless? turning the other cheek?) except possibly browbeating a woman into not getting an abortion. It appears that being pro-fetus and anti-homosexual is about all Christianity is *about*.
Don't get me started, pal.
Oh, and with respect to the actual charge of lying - I'm pretty sure that everybody who voted to impeach lied at some point in their lives. It's human nature to lie about sexual exploits and that case never belonged in a court, much less the house of representatives.

Perhaps not scriptural, Madpol, and I am not qualified to comment on the scriptures, anyhow. I feel it has to do with the classical definition of a Puritan: somebody who can not sleep suspecting somebody out there might be having fun.
Seriously, I found the obsession with Clinton's behavior totally unreasonable and often downright silly. Yes, what he did was improper and he should have known better. It hardly qualified as treason (the reason for reading the articles of impeachment). As for molestation of children, there seems to be a kind of dominionist attitude toward them on part of christians which may be scriptural.

You can't take anything the catholics say and put it into rational or understandable paragraphs.
You also can't take anything they do and base it on scripture.
Never in history has this been possible. Don't get your brain overheated trying.
Now you know I am a Christian Madpol, and I have nothing to do with catholics. You gotta give the rest of us a break. Stop generalizing cause that is so, not fair.
If you ask God for personal gain, he will not hear. satan will and grant you your wish. If you are blind and believe this gift was from God, then you will blame Him when your world crashes. This is satan's time to rejoice because he has yet again made his Lord look bad.

1. I hate no one.
2. Former President Clinton was not impeached for cheating on his wife. He was impeached for perjury. Look it up.
3. I think you're talking about the Catholic church, not about ALL churches.
4. Where are your sources?

I agree with you on that one, Mad. It IS strange how the Catholic Church will go OUT of it's way to protect child molesting priests at the same time as condemning a guy for having an affair on his wife with another CONSENTING adult. Young but STILL an adult.

God said NO ADULTERY in His 10 commandments! A president who thinks with his "other brain" could be a much bigger disaster than a sicko pedifile, because it could change the world!
"OK I'll "A-bomb" the Arabs for you (Lewinsky was Jewish remember) to make Isreal safe; but first you have to do something for me!"
God abhors (and said so frequently) and prohibits even consentual sex with adults other than your spouse, let alone any rape. Note that includes a prohibition on "statutory rape" of children which is also prohibited by the law.
In the garden, the "devil's" serpent, God's enemy lied to Eve saying, "but did God REALLY say that?"
You bet there's Biblical prohibition against child molestation. What so-called Christian doesn't know that in their heart? That's how God speaks...almost never to our ear...but to our HEART, and mind.
You know both "normal" rape AND statutory rape of children is wrong, unless you have a heart of stone!
Don't blame your sins on God. They are on your own head!!!
Now, if you are honest with yourself, any one who LOVES others knows without bible quotes.
If I must say this...the ten commandments prohibit all "adultery", let alone illegal "statutory rape" abusing non-adults.
At no extra charge I'll also say that the 10 commandments also prohibit all "murder", let alone murdering God's child in your womb.
God is our ultimate judge! Abortion is the biggest child abuse of all!!!

the entire citation you point out is this: go through the little infants to come again unto me and forbid them no longer, for of such is the dominion of heaven. This scripture has to do with adults attempting to maintain the little infants faraway from Jesus, and reminds us that we are all like little infants as quickly as we get to heaven. all of us comprehend as low as those babies. Your questions are no longer approximately that scripture. suffering infants via the hundreds of thousands - sure, the infants bear the sins of their fathers/mothers. the place they stay is approximately demographics. in the event that they stay in a wasteland with or devoid of father and mom, it continues to be because of the fact of their father and mom. God sees their plight, and diverse die and pass to be with God in heaven, that's a greater powerful place in case you question me!
