what does a person who has her business and as a single mother whom never took welfare or any other help from govt. is running out of time, her license is expiring and she could loose it all and go hell or get married to someone for legal status (which she disagree with)

Her driver licenses will expire in 6 months, there is no way to stay without getting married to an american. She never wanted to do so. Is a single mom of a boy and has now her own business, pays taxes and do not send a penny overseas. there's no way to apply without getting married. and is a huge difference between a hard working person and a pedophile! She did not cross the border, she overstayed her visa which is different. No, you dont need legal papers to have your own business call the IRS, they will explain to you. She speaks english, and she knows she broke a civil law overstaying but she has always contributed to the American Society. Her son's school has always awarded her for her help and cooperation, volunteers as translator, she does a lot of social work in the community. you can't apply for citizenship or residence just like that is very hard. She would kick all criminals back to to their home country. She respects our way of life. Admitts her her mistake YES.

I am going to put this bluntly... IF she had her own business, why wasn't she putting aside money to correct the wrong of being here illegally?

Besides her son, that should have been her first priority, but no where do you mention that she even TRIED to do this. Now when it looks like the ride on the gravy train is going to be up... you are still look for ways for her to stay AND remain illegal. What's up with that?

All the other stuff you wrote about how good a person she is doesn't amount to a hill of beans UNTIL she tries to get legal.

You don't mention how long she over stayed her Visa. Has it been a month? A year? Or longer? She knew what she was doing, and it appears she knew exactly WHEN the Visa expired. But she continued to run her own business and NOT make any attempts to become a legal citizen.

I have no sympathy for her, she could have been putting the money she earned (illegally) towards an Attorney, or applying for citizenship.

i would do a google search .... your state name illegal immigrant advocacy center , google the american bar association / search for attorneys pro bono means free or reduced fee / you need an immigration attorney to advise you. i think that there is a difference in someone who has tried to apply here legally and who is working and paying taxes and is not involved in crime / gangs. A majority of the Mexican people I have encountered are good people who work hard and are just working to have a better life for their family. Hard to find fault with that. Was your child born here ? That may help you ? An atty should advise you. Maybe you can enroll in school / get some type of student visa to extend things legally for a few months ? The lawyer should look at all the different options available to you. Good Luck.

Overstaying her visa, is still being here illegally. Even if she married, that would not make her legal. How nice that she considers marrying for status distastefully, but has no problem with being here illegal. Sounds like she wants to pick and choose her moral high ground. She needs to go home to her native country

Leaving to hell is grounds for asylum.

PS, did her kid take education and benefits? That is the issue with single moms who come.

Speak to an attorney. I agree the law treats those who overstayed somewhat differently than those who came illegally to begin with, but an attorney would be the first step.

At the end of the day, she has made a better life for her and her son. But she has overstayed her visa, so she is ILLEGAL! no matter what side you look at this. And, as a intelligent person she must of realized the cost of her decision to stay in the USA illegal.

Apply for citizenship before time runs out. It is simple. If she lets time run out she will be illegal and subject to deportation and a 10 year ban on re-entry.

What license? If she's an illegal alien then she made her own bed...I guess she'll have to lie in it. She created her own problem by breaking laws to begin with.

No Amnesty! Never again.

Stay legally or get out.

Some countries are considered dangerous and we let there people come here with less restrictions. There are more options than go home or get married.

Thats nice we have so many illegal supporters in here today. Since they don't think its a bad thing why don't offer to support them because I sure don't want to pay their share.
