Truth is fact. It is what we can say we know because of evidence and verification. How one finds it is simply by applying the process of first questioning everything and then by only accepting those things as true that can be verified by examination and observation (not merely thinking), data and evidence (not just what someone or some text says), and verification by others (having others test the data to see if they get the same result). Then you will have some assurance that you have arrived at the truth or as close as you can come to it at the moment. Always keep open the posibility that this truth may be subject to further refinement as new data becomes available.

The total amount of suffering per year in the natural world is beyond all decent contemplation. During the minute that it takes me to compose this sentence, thousands of animals are being eaten alive, many others are running for their lives, whimpering with fear, others are slowly being devoured from within by rasping parasites, thousands of all kinds are dying of starvation, thirst, and disease. It must be so. If there ever is a time of plenty, this very fact will automatically lead to an increase in the population until the natural state of starvation and misery is restored. In a universe of electrons and selfish genes, blind physical forces and genetic replication, some people are going to get hurt, other people are going to get lucky, and you won't find any rhyme or reason in it, nor any justice. The universe that we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but pitiless indifference.

True religion will follow five things:

1. Use, respect and obey God's Word - the Bible. Not just parts of it that fit what they want to hear, but all of it. (2 Tim. 3:16)
2. They would see that God's kingdom is the only solution to the problems that mankind faces. Realize that God's government does NOT rule through the earthly governments now in place. (Dan. 2:44)
3. They would be no part of this world as Jesus commanded them to be. The people of this religion would not allow themselves to be squeezed into the world's mold. (Romans 12:2)
4. They would be known by God's name - Jehovah, who is most high over all the earth. God's name was originally in the Bible over 7,000 times until a man decided to take it out. (Ps. 83:18)
5. They (the adherents to this true religion) would have love among themselves. Love bonds true Christians. They would love each other regardless of race or ethnic backgrounds. It would be a true world-wide brotherhood.(John 13:34, 35)

When you have found the religion that goes by these five things, and not just some of them, but ALL of them, then you have found the one true religion. And you have found the truth.

Truth is not a 'what' - it's a Who - and you'll find it embodied in the person of Jesus Christ.

The most tragic question ever asked was by Pontius Pilate: 'What is truth?' when Truth Personified was standing right in front of him. Find Christ and you will begin to find the truth.

Truth probably comes to individuals by a lot of different routes. Some of those routes are listed by answerers above.

But sometimes truth comes to individuals by simply bulldozing a hole in their defenses and entering their consciousness without their wish to find it, with irresistable power.

Truth: The earth orbits the sun.

You find it by engaging in critical thought and objective investigation.

The Bible says the Church is "the pillar of Truth." The Catholic Church was left by Jesus to protect the Truth and teach it to all nations and generations. You will find the Truth in the Catholic Church.

Truth is an individual's own interpetation of Fact. unfortunately, religion makes a habit of ignoring new facts as they are discovered so they can cling to their outdated, yet comforting "truths"
