How do i know or by which software about the processes which are using my internet data packets..?

or using internet connection (both in coming and outgoing data packets),so that i can terminate the unnecessary ones to improve my internet download or site-page loading speed?

Is there any good,sophisticated software-apps to "smart-detect" that and terminate the unnecessary internet data-packet sharing ? Any ideas,please?
