For those of you who don't know what Ramadan is, it is a Holy month in the Islamic calender, when muslims fast from dawn till dusk, and must abstain from committing other bad deeds too..but, we must continue with life as usual, going to work, school etc. only with this little difference..

I'm not Muslim, so I don't practice it, but I respect the rights of those who do. I understand it is important to them.

in the days were you can see love in the eyes for thy neighbor, and life was not so busy as it is now, things used to go very slaw in here in Jerusalem
i was little kid and we have in our little street more than 4 or 5 christian families
they used to celebrate Ramadan with us especially in the nights when Ramadan comes in summer
life starts in these little roads just a bit after having the iftar
then you see all these little boys making some circles going to houses
singing for then some particular Ramadan song
the family some opens the door then gets generous with ramadan sweets to these kids
but all are alike together
and a particular kid which i know used to fast with muslims
may be he gets a sip of water when he goes home
but always he used to tell us
ana sayem
meaning i am in fast
well that is to the young
how about old
no smoking in road or at work or in public place .not that it is a written law,no such a thing, but i never saw a christian holding a ciggarette in ramadan
especially in those places were there are mix working
and night is night
to have ramadan nice sweets ius some thing christian would love to do
and to visit you once you do that
now adays
its so mixed up

I respect the dedication and self discipline required for it. Otherwise, it seems like a waste of time to me. Lunch afterall is my favorite part of the work day.

*shrug* Doesn't affect my life any. Good for them, but I find it as silly as Christians who try to "be good" for Lent.

Seems counter-intuitive to need a special time to be reminded of what you should be doing all the time anyway.
