Hey so i just moved from California and right before we moved my little brother got his driver license. They guy at the DMV asked him what his address was and he told the guy our new address which is not in California. And he just got it in the mail and it's a California license but it has another state's address and everything.......what's with that? was it a mistake? Doesn't he have to get a new driver license in our new state?? Does anyone know anything about this? thanks

You need a license for the State you are living in. Most have a time limit for changing over. Some also require this when you start working in a State you are living in. Part of this is for your protection. If you are mailed a ticket at the incorrect address on the license and don't pay it (which you can't since you didn't receive it) a bench warrant is issued and will show up should you get stopped for anything else.

All I know is in Arizona you are supposed to re-register your car with the DMV in Arizona within 10 days of arrival. You will get a 100% Arizona license plate. Most transplants never re-register their cars in practice & so far the Police have turned a blind eye unless you get into an accident

This sounds like a mistake on the part of the person that entered the information in the system to print the license. He does need a new onw with the correct information on it, I would suggest taking it to your local DMV. It is possible they may make him a new one for free. (I know here in Indiana they are $26 each.)

By now, since the TX tickets were not paid, there is a warrant out for your arrest (but not serious enough to bring you back from CA) and your license has been revoked. Contact TX, pay the fines, get your TX status valid, then turn it in for a CA license.

Of course he needs a current state drivers licence. Some states they require you to change in 30 days.

You and your brother will both need to get new licenses in your current state of residence.
