I used a Mooncup for a while. It cost around £18, and I got mine here; http://www.mooncup.co.uk/menstrual_cup_price.html

It comes in different sizes (depending on your age and whether you've had children), and you need to boil it when you're period is due to make sure it's squeaky-clean (it comes with a muslin bag for storage between periods).

Using it is a bit tricky at first, and not great if you're squeamish. You'll probably need to rinse it more frequently if you're prone infections.

The only difficulty I found was when at work - you need to rinse it with very hot water, and trying to be discreet about this in a public toilet isn't easy (people wonder why on earth you're taking a cup of hot water into the cubicle with you - doesn't conjure up nice images!).

It definitely doesn't leak, though, and is very secure - give it a try because some women find them indispensable. Good luck!

What is a mooncup? I know what a monkey-cup is because I was served them for dinner one night in my neighbours' place. They were from a very foreign distant country. Monkey-cups are pitcher plants. Pads are very thin and light nowadays, with wings to grip your knickers. You hardly know they are there. But the cheaper ones have sharp edges and can cut into the top of your legs. Also the bleach on them can burn your sensitive area. You can counteract this by putting natural yoghurt on them just before wearing them. But as time wears on, if you have a light period and the pad gets a bit dry, the yoghurt dries up and resembles large crumbs which go everywhere when you take them off without remembering this could happen. Forget tampons - not healthy at all. I hope a person answering your question, describes what mooncups are. Pads are only kitty litter flattened between two layers of material, so you could make your own to save money. You can get non-bleached pads I believe. If you see expensive thin pads going out at half price, don't buy 12 packets, because the overexcitement of saving that much money will make your periods will stop

YES!! I have the equivalent, a DivaCup, and it changed my life! No more stuffed-up feeling, no more grotty old tampons, no thrush... As long as you are comfortable with fiddling your hoo-hah (some women aren't), then you will be fine. There are 2 sizes, one for pre-birth and one for those who've had kids. Also, it'll take a while for it to soften up and get used to, so stick with it!

I have recommended them to so many people and they have all loved them!!

Also, think of the environmental and financial savings you'll make :-)

Diva cups are great on many different levels. They are better for your body than tampons, cleaner than pads and better ecologically. Not to mention if you want to have sex during menstruation, there is no mess!

I have been using Diva cups for about 7 years and absolutely love them.

If you are on a swim team, I highly recommend using tampons instead of cups. I don't think the clots would make the cup fall out. Tampons are quite safe if you replace them every 4 hours. P.S. Don't wear tampons at night.
