Everytime it happens, the sound is louder and it stops once I awaken. There's three motherly figures that have passed on. Is someone or something trying to tell me something? This always occurs about the same time in the early morning... 4:00 am. Then I am not able to go back to sleep.

Something or someone is trying to get your attention. There may be something going on in your life that you need to take another look at. Are the three motherly figures that passed on relatives? How did they die? If it was from an illness, you might want to have your doctor to a physical and blood test on you to make sure everything is okay. In the meantime, try to figure out what it is that the knocking could be about. It also could be that a new opportunity is coming your way. You know the old saying...."Opportunity knocks". Good luck!

Knocking is a manifestation of the sensory parts of your brain being tapped by frontal lobe which is active while in REM state.
Think of it as a synaptic misfire. At $:00 am you are in one of your more active REM states, headed towards dawn.
The three moms are a wonderful image. Trinities are often views as protectorates. ( Father, Son, Holy Ghost or Past, present, future or the three Graces).
Think of the moms as Shepard's, waiting to show you the way

It's possible. I've heard my mother's voice & she's been dead for almost 12 years. It's always warning me to be careful about something.
