Better health care. Lots of previous immigrants and their offspring are finding that some countries offer dual citizenship. In their senior years, they can obtain the quality health care which escapes them in the US without the high taxes they would have to pay in their youth.
I doubt many are leaving due to GW Bush. He is a troll who is out of office in just over a year. Most people can stand it for that short of time.

>>Why are so many thousands of Americans leaving the US, to live in Europe?<<
Same reason thousands of people are leaving Europe. In a globalized economy, job opportinities can arise, well, globally.
It's hardly surprising that the workforce is more mobile.
>>Are Americans leaving the US because there are more freedoms in Europe?<<
I'm not sure there are. Examples: In Europe you can enjoy a beer in a park without the fear of being rounded up by brutal policemen. In America you can carry a machine gun in you car without fearing a 5 year prison sentence . In Europe you can watch softcore porn on national television, but horror movies are only available in the adult section of the video rental shop. While horror is widely broadcast in America and nudity is shunned like the plague.
In the end it evens out more or less. There aren't more freedoms in Europe, just different ones.

I usually don't like to get personal, but the idea that there are more freedoms in Europe is asinine. Sure a few allow you to smoke pot, but if that is the only reason, then good riddance. As I answered to your other question with this moronic viewpoint, for every person leaving, three are waiting to get in legally.
I imagine that a lot of those that are leaving the U.S. are Muslims that lean a little to the radical side. The yellow bellied leadership of Europe is to scared to do anything about them. If you think they have more freedoms over there now, in twenty years you won't think so. In twenty years the European Union will be living under Sharia Law.

In my experience, there have always been a lot of Americans going to live in Europe, at least for a few years. The reasons are many: work opportunities, education, adventure, etc.
I haven't noticed an increasing trend.
Europe has its problems, too.

There are not that many Americans leaving to live in Europe and certainly not very many who are leaving and not coming back. Its called a vacation in a couple of weeks they return.

More are coming here from Europe than are leaving for Europe. Many of those leaving are foreign born. They have worked in the US, obtained Social Security and saved their US dollars. They are returning to Europe where their money will go much further.

Several reasons. I think the number is in the millions though, and not thousands. first, there are more freedoms in Europe than the USA. Secondly, many people have Dual Citizenship, such as with Italy, which affords them free health care and education. I think overall, many Americans want a better life for their children and a chance to have a decent education for them, which does not exist in the US. There are very few Europeans coming to the US, as they have a better life where they are.

Take a look around. America is backwards. Many people are so bitter and miserable in their life, and all they do is work and let life pass them by. The quality of life is MUCH better in Europe, where people actually have a zest for living and dont measure their value based on what they make. Americans lack integrity!!!

Absolutely FREE, FULL medical benefits in Europe. That's certainly enough for most!
