Hondas generally hold thier value better, in this case it's a newer car so with the limited inf you gave - the Honda. You need to compare milage, trim level , options and condition. A 2000 Golf with 24k miles in perfect shape is better than a 02 civic w/100k.

Hondas traditionally have had higher resale value. But going in that is not why you buy a car. Style speed gas milage and price.
