My friend's parents are giving me a 100 bucks as a college present, but I feel really bad about accepting it because I don't even know them that well. What's a good way to reject the gift without seeming rude? Or should I just take the money.. ?

Take the money, to reject money would definitely be rude. Someday, if you really, really feel that bad about it, donate that amount of money to a charity in their name. But do not reject a gift under circumstances like this. The only time you might reject a gift legitimately is if there are strings attached to it (like sexual favors, etc.).

The only time I reject a gift is if I know someone wants something in return that I'm not comfortable with. The only thing your friend's parents want from you is for you to do well with their best wishes. They know you will need the money more than something like glass vase etc and they are being thoughtful. Take the money and send them a thank you note telling them you have settled in well at college and the money came in handy for....

Depends how bad do you feel about taking it.

There is nothing wrong with accepting gifts when the motive for the gift is clear and you're OK with it. If however, you really feel bad about it return it and just explain that you appreciate their gesture but cannot accept the gift.

Remember, your friend's parents know you through their son/daughter so they must appreciate your presence and this was just a chance to express how they feel.

Take the money, because it would be rude to them to reject the gift.

You should simply accept their gift graciously and write a nice thank you note. For cash gifts, a thank you note should not specify the amount or even specifically refer to cash, but should be something along the lines of, "Thank you for your generous gift. It will certainly assist me in buying books for this next semester." Unless there's a specific disagreement with the person (a former boyfriend/girlfriend who may be purchasing you something expensive in hopes of renewing a failed relationship, for example), you should never decline a gift.

Take the money. There is no way to not seem rude. Just thank them.

Dear Nippy, If you really do not want to accept that gift then say I cannot accept that much I am happy without taking it. If you feel bad then I will happily take 10 $ Dollar. I am sure they will be convinced and you won't be rude for them.

Take the gift and donate to your favorite cause. That is if you can't seem to use it for your education. I wouldn't be worried due to the fact that you don't know them that well. Nice thing to do for you.

i'm happy you like to be comfortable, it shows compassion. At this element, whether, you're probable going to must be blunt. adult adult males do no longer consistently get subtleties, so do him a prefer and attempt to apply language that shows an certainly reasonable aversion to accepting the present. do no longer purely say you do no longer prefer to settle for it, you will no longer settle for it. do no longer attempt to positioned on a grin, and tell him right now up he needs to end asking you out, this is purely using you farther away. he will savor it interior the long-term, and so will you.
