Well, i have been with the AA for 10 years and mine keeps going down anyway, but you could try SAGA if you don't want to go through a broker.
Good Luck.

RE Just turned 50 - can you get cheaper insurance if you are over 50?
It was my 50th bday last week and I'm trying to cut down on my car insurance costs. Can anyone recommend any insurers that offer cheaper prices for drivers over 50?

I'm over 50 and Insurance doesn't get cheaper with age. Its your driving record that counts and the kind of car and how old your car is. if you have a car older than 5 years drop the collision on it it will drop then. Or check other insurance companys.

Most insurance companies offer reduced rates for drivers over 50 - your current one included probably.
Some companies try and sell themselves aiming at the over-50 market - however their policies and claims service may be inferior to other companies.
I suggest you try a broker. If you qualify I would recommend the Zurich Plus contract (only available from brokers) - free legal expenses, free breakdown assistance and free home-call breakdown - pay a small amount and you save well over £100 on AA/ RAC breakdown costs!

I am 56, and despite the advertising by the insurers who claim to have cheaper insurance for over 50's I have found this not to be the case. 2.0 litre Pug 406 was £90 more expensive with saga, than Axa for me - full no claims -protected bonus etc

Normally, the only reduction in cost relating to age is at 25. After that, your driving record is the only thing that matters. Going with cheaper rates could also get you "cheaper" coverage and cancellations with a first claim.
