It was 20^C today & I walked past a car at the post office and noticed two young children in there (one a baby and the other about 2ish). I just assumed their mother/father was posting a letter. I had lunch across the road, which roughly took about 45 minutes. I left and walked back across the street. The children were still there!
I banged on the window and tried to get their attention, both were dopey and relucant to move. I ran into the post office and got help. Couldn't find the parents, so i smashed the small window in the drivers window and got the kids out.
Both these babies where extremely dehydrated, and sick. They were taken to the hospital, and the police arrived soon after.
The mother a middle aged woman then decided to rock up. Off her head on christ nows what! Then tried to assult me for breaking her window!! so i smacked her around the ear hole and told her if i hadn't have done i they could have died!
i am a mother myself and totally disgusted! Why leave your

First of all, congratulations on having the moral gumption to do what NEEDED to be done. In these days with news reports of people being raped and bleeding to death in public and numerous people ignoring things right in front of them, it's good to hear of someone not afraid to worry about someone else.
As far as charges being pressed on you... you probably can't do anything to stop that... but here's a few ideas... both in the name of justice and self protection.
1)- the threat of contacting child protective services (if this hasn't been done already) could be a strong compeller to get her to drop charges, and contact with them should be made anyway!
2)- keep your reciept for the place you were eating, and talk to the person who served you... these would be helpful in establishing that the children were indeed in peril.
3)- a weather report for the day, to prove what temperatures you were dealing with!
4)- see if you can track down any officers, paramedics, or witnesses who can attest to how the children were when you got them out of the car.
This is going to be hard reguardless... you did break a window and you did hit someone... both were deserving and needed of course, but our legal system rarely allows pardon even when there is a good reason for having done something.
Sometimes people take the fall for doing what is right, but the right thing still needs to be done. Know that you have set a good example for your kids, and your community. More should be willing to step up when the need arises.

THANK YOU !!!!! you saved those babies lives!!! you are a hero! this summer alone over 27 children were left in cars nationwide and died as a result....I am so happy that these 2 were not another 2 innocent victims that I would have read in the news about! bless your heart, you did the right thing!! that mother should be locked away for good.....what a cruel thing to do to your children, especially after there has been so much news attention around this topic, you'd think people would learn!

I cant believe your facing charges. This mother wants locking up. You dont leave kids in a car unattended period. I live in the UK where I recently read the tragic story of a 5 year old and 2 year old being left in a car with the engine running. The 5 year old starting playing with the buttons and strangled himself by trapping his neck in the electric window. I dont think you'll face charges when the whole story comes out. just remember you helped 2 children the car window can always be replaced.

Good for you for saving 2 babies life's. Maybe when the mother comes to her senses she will thank you. My dad jumped in a rolling car and saved 2 children before and the mother considers him a hero. I know how disgusting that could be, but nobody should leave a child in a car, EVER. It doesn't matter if your just running in somewhere, it should never be done. I'm so happy you saved them, you should be on the news!

they may press charges against you but they won't stick and if it goes to court you won't be found guilty, the law allows you to use necessary force to protect yourself and others and I'm sure if there's no precedent then the judge/jury will see that you were acting in the best interest of the children. If you called the police they would have done the same thing but may have been too late. You saved two lives, you should be very proud of yourself; not many people would look twice :(
pat yourself on the back and know in your heart you did the right thing. Know that 99.999999% of people are thanking you and those two children and their children will someday thank you too, who gives a rat's a*s what she's thinking! Dept of community services will have been notified of this and there's not a very good chance of that drugged up poor excuse of a mother having the privelege of raising those children.

You did exactly what should be done. Let everyone see this and show them to do the same thing. That so called "mother" should have been taken straight to the Police Station and charged with Child neglect, abuse, attempted muder and child endangerment. I would have done the same thing in your situation. Maybe if we all start breaking some windows when we see something like that then less children would die as a result of waiting to do something or doing nothing at all.

You totally did the right thing - that lady was stupid. I could not agree more - children ARE NOT to be left in the car. Period. End of. I cannot stand when people do that... what the heck are they thinking??? Not at the gas station, not the grocery store, not at the post office. Never...
Applause to you and a pat on the back. Those children are probably alive because you helped out.

I don't think you'll get charged. I'm so glad that you were there to save those babies! Where I grew up it's illegal to leave your kids in cars and many babies have died because of the heat. I can't believe that parents leave their little ones in the car! That so called mother will get charged!

Good for you!! The mother should have been carted to jail and charged with child abandonment. What I would do is contact the news media and let them know about this, about how you are being charged and punished for saving the children's lives. The publicity could help your case, and it could send a message to parents making them stop and think before doing this. 3

I don't blame you for being angry!! What a mother! Does she even begin to realise how fortunate she is that you came by when you did? Some guy here left his child in the car forgetting to drop him off at playschool as he was asleep in his carseat in the back - he went into the building to work and the child died.
I think you deserve a medal and if I were the mother (firstly I would not have left my kids in the car alone even for a second) I would have given you my life for sparing my childrens.
How ungrateful can you be.
