You are not looking hard enough.
The 270 million Catholics of African descent represent about 25% of the one billion Roman Catholics throughout the world in more than 59 countries.
Most Black Catholics are in Africa. However there are about 3 million in the United States.

I don't know how many Black Catholics there are, but there are at least some. Someone very close to me is Black, and used to go to a Catholic church (though she never actually joined...). She now attends various Protestant churches.

This is not true. My best friend is Black and she's Catholic. She was born Catholic, went to Catholic school, and goes to Catholic church every Sunday.

There are some in the States I assume from all the answers...However, I can't help but wonder if there were many missionaries sent to black Africa by the catholic Church. In those centuries (16th, 17th...) the Jesuits went to Japan and othe parts of Asia, where their doctrine did not catch and to the Americas. If they went to Africa, I wasn't informed, and that's how you turn new populations into catholics.
Interesting question anyway.

Maybe you don't live near many black people. Having grown up on the south side of chicago, I can promise you that there are, in fact, black Catholics. Whole churches of them. You might also take a look at the continent of Africa. Or look up Cardinal Francis Arinze.

There are black Catholics, although few in the US. Much higher numbers in Africa, and some other countries.
