It's been a really bad year for fleas, here's what I do

I keep my dog on garlic and brewer's yeast tablets (you can buy at PetCo, not really expensive), I give these to her, year round, also gives her a shiny coat.

There's a pesticide that you can buy to treat your house with (make sure that it's safe to use in the house around kids and pets), I spray the carpet VERY liberally, until it's damp to the touch (NOT soaked), then I open all the windows and turn on fans until the carpet is dry ( I do the whole house all at once, that way the fleas aren't just moving to an area that I'm not treating) then I vaccuum the hell out of it. Use a fresh bag in the vac and throw it out when you're done. Don't forget to get underneath furniture. I also spray under the furniture and all around the bottom edge.

Now, you'll need to treat the yard, there's a product out called 7Dust, you can buy this anywhere, Home Depot, Lowe's, etc. However, be very careful with this stuff read and follow the directions very carefully, especially if the dog is going to be out in the yard, or if you have kids.

Don't forget to wash bedding, yours and the dog's, I usually wash everything that isn't tied down. Just running them through the washer will be sufficient, no need to boil or sanitize.

Another thing you can do is use garlic. I use about 4-5 whole heads of garlic, cut them in half (side to side, not top to bottom) put them in a big pot of water and let them boil for about 30 minutes, let the stuff cool, put it in a spray bottle and spray around the outside of the house, especially around the doors and the porch. If the infestation isn't really bad, this helps and surprisingly doesn't make your house smell like an Italian restaraunt.

Good Luck!

The only things that work for fleas are spot on treatments eg frontline and flea bombs for the carpet. The frontline will kill the fleas but only the ones on the dog. If you want to kill the fleas in the carpet u need to wait untill they jump on the dog and bite it or buy a flea bomb and bomb the house. You need to also realise that there will be eggs hatching also so they won't immediately die at once. You also need to read the instruction on everything u use. I am pretty sure that frontline can not be used within 48 hours of bathing ur dog. Some insecticides kill adult fleas eggs and larvae, some only sterilise the eggs and larvae so they in turn can not lay eggs. This means that u may have to reapply the treatment 2 or more times to kill off the last generation of fleas.

right first u need to get prescription from the vets for a tablet for your dog and he should get an injection and then u need to keep him away from the house... which means possible sleeping in a warm garage or a kennel untill u have cleaned out the house which u do by individually spraying the rooms and cleaning carpets and covers making sure there arnt ANY left ... clothes will have to be boiled and washed to kill of the flea's before u can bring the dog back in ... just a few flea's can start of that again so beee certain befor u bring the dog back in

i live in texas and i know what you are going through. first of all get on line and go to carealot.com they have frontlineplus order it and you can do it for 3 mos at a time. then you go to home depot there are two items for inside and outside to spary. spray the house and yard. once you do all that it will get them all and the dog will have none and your house will be done also do this about couple two or 3 ties a year spraying. it will take car eof it.

get flea bombs, set them off leave your house for 3 hours go back open all the windows. fleas should be gone.. with the dog. bath it with a flea shampoo then treat it with advantage or advocate or frontline.. whatever.. and that should fix it.. just make sure you change dogs bedding. open all cupboards when you set off the flea bomb. then vaccum nwhen its done.
